For Android Users: App to get Di. Fm and Trance Channels

If you dont alreay have this Free App, its called "Stream Furious".
Many channels on it, but you can stream Di.FM and other Trance broadcasts...I had Electric Zoo live feeds all day Sunday without an issue (Expect that I wish I went to day 2) after hearing many sets..

Ahh this is awesome, thanks!

TuneIn Radio and XiaaLive are two other alternative apps that do the same thing in case for some reason you don't like StreamFurious.

i have the droid x

the first two weeks it was great but now for no reason that i can think of it takes like literally two full minutes to open each txt...everything is slow...like SUPER slow.

im going to throw it out the window.

The internet is slow (thats service i know) all the apps are slow...my msg is slow....

typing is slow (as if it wasnt annoying enough that im on a huge learning curve due to my 5 years of blackberry ownage)

hmmm lets see...i guess atm that is the most annoying thing. theres nothing i can do on this phone in under 5 minutes...even just a simple "thanks" response to a txt

have you downloaded the Task killer App? I find that if you leave too many apps open, it not only drains the battery but also makes the phone run slow. I also have the droid X and absolutely love it!

yup i have it and i use it constantly

Ive now taken the time to COUNT how long it takes to open and read a msg..

TWO FULL MINUTES! two minutes is a really long time to wait for a damn phone to open an FN txt!!

also...the browser is super slow and constantly failing.

FB is constantly giving me error messages....no matter i use full site, mobile site or the app.....

I can not txt my mother...of all people...because when i do it throws a 646 area code on there which is a landline phone so i get that annoying txt "the number....is a landline phone...." which ive now wasted about 30 minutes of my life trying to open each one!!

Ive deleted her contact info and re-entered each time had her correct area code so i have no idea why its happening...she can txt me...i get it...wait two tedious minutes to open...then reply and a min or so later i am greated by the bastard verizon message informing me that 6462279096 is a landline phone. I DONT CARE THATS NOT WHO I AM TRYING TO MSG!!!!

i hate it...im so fed up....i wish i could throw this thing in the river i want my Blackberry BACK!!!!

oh and also...i was todl by verizon that you CAN use the internet while on a call..as well as txt ect..

you can not.

at least i got my txts while i was on my bb chatting.

Posted by amberella06 on Sep-10-2010 14:32:

You can multitask...while in a call, hit the back arrow button at the bottom until you get to the home screen, then you can do whatever you like. this phone is my first smart phone and it took me awhile to get the hang of it, but now i absolutely love it. the pictures are great and the videos are amazing. sorry you're having so much trouble with the phone. =(

i went to my home screen and went to the internet- page couldnt load....so im lead to believe i can not use the internet while on a call (though...that might just be my pos)

also...i THOUGHT i was getting txt durring calls the other day...but last night while on a lengthy call i received nothing then hung up and had 5 txts 2 of which were 911-ish txts and had been sent while i was on the call but never came through

i guess ill be going to verizon tonight. ::: sigh ::: i just hope they can help bc i WANT to give this phone a chance but between all this AND the fact that i suck so hard at typing on it...hehehe...i may have a stroke or at the very least a large panic attack hahahahhaha

must be your phone, mine works 100% all the time with heavy use.
GMAN: thanks for the Cherry R player, very sweet, but how do you get 256K streaming?? lol...at most im at 128K

Posted by osterzone on Sep-10-2010 23:01:

You don't need the Task Killer app. Most apps close when you press back out of them, and the only think the task killer will do is screw around with your phone settings.

Either you somehow got a virus from downloading an app or there's something wrong with you phone's antenna, causing the slow load times for the internet and text messages. I've never heard of it taking two minutes to open a text...it's most likely a hardware problem with the antenna.

Flash to me is a bust on Android. I don't have any use for it.

- Verizon's 3G is too slow to stream any kind of live video (sports, news, etc.)
- Flash games don't work with a touchscreen
- Any streaming music I can find with an app and those usually run better

I don't think it adds anything to the Android internet experience, except making browsers lag more because they load more ads now.

The Droid Inc's external speaker sucks bad but I've had no problems with the audio quality through the headphone jack. It's pretty decent.

I really wouldn't bank on a Verizon iPhone in January. I'm certain that it's not going to happen.

This thread is great. I have problems getting XiaaLive to work correctly- it'll blast music into my office instead my headphones. I'll download the new app.

I love my droid, but it's a battery hog. And I'm a heavy internet user. What's the point of having unlimited internet when I only get 2-3 hours of internet on a full charge. I need to find ways to maximize battery life. I carry my charger everywhere- I know iPhones have charger that doesn't require an outlet. Does the Android have one too?

You can try buying an extended battery from a company like Seidio. Those will give you more juice out of one charge and then you can carry around your current battery in your wallet like a credit card and swap it in when the other one runs out.

They also sell car chargers as well as portable " power cells" where you can plug your phone in and it'll charge. Some guys I saw over the summer had these power cells hooked onto their belts and they were charging their phones while they walked around the city.

For extra battery life try lowering your phone's brightness and go into the internet settings and turn plugins off (it disables flash). If you don't use your GPS or WiFi, turn those off too. If you're a frequent subway traveler, put a widget on your phone to toggle airplane mode on and off (airplane mode kills all the phone's voice/data service so you don't waste battery life while the phone searches for mobile networks that aren't there in subway tunnels).

as advertised they hold about 25-30% more juice...however when i asked a Verizon rep about it he said it will give you about an extra hour. i don't have it so i can't speak from experience
