Why you go see a DJ ? (poll)
What motivates you to see a Dj live is it their Productions or their live performances and stage appeal or because someone tells you too ??
i go to hear a dj, not see one.
And its all about how they play. I couldnt care less about their productions or circus tricks! Therefor i cant answer your poll

I think the production of a show still has alot to do with why I go see a DJ. Music is def the #1 reasons. But a DJ that can pull off some crazy antics and hype a crowd with funny/weird/flamboyant characteristics definitely still adds to the whole entertaining value of the overall experience.
Screw productions, theatrics and animations.
All I need is a proper beat, a good sound system and space to dance.

I think it's so much fun to hear the same stuff you listen to in the car, or at home on such a massive scale with so many people. Always gives the tune a new meaning I guess.
By the way. djsketch, holy shit you're tall
I think at the entire LoL and when I saw you at zone you were the only person taller then me.
I go see DJ sets because I'm pretty sure the DJ will play the style of music I like, it's all about the music for me. Once a month I make my way to Stereo, I can't party every weekend I dunno how you guys do it, but.. I check the schedule and pick a day, and we dance for 8 hours. It's always such a great night, my next day at the temple is this saturday for The Martinez Brothers.
DJs' productions, quality of previous gigs, and personality; also, friends' recommendations and artist/label support.
friends/music
The stuff that comes out of the speakers (and i dont mean the skasians) is the number one thing...
But the showmanship can be fun as well...
Since I don't party nearly as much as I use to it's pretty rare that I go see a dj I've never heard of before. That being said I go see a dj who I want to experience live... experience their presence; the way the dj, club, and crowd all interact with one another, and to hear his/her sound on some big ass speakers.
And I go to get my dance on

SO many reasons! The main ones for me are usually set flow/mixing/track selection and definitely the time spent with friends (it's not as fun dancing alone!). Sometimes a particular dj's ability to produce also gets me really revved up to see them, because I'll likely get the opportunity to hear some of those tracks live in a club! Oh, and it definitely doesn't hurt to see someone crack a smile behind the decks!
Most importantly, can he/she make me never want to stop dancing?!

i am honestly over seeing a specific DJ for the name. i go for the party.
if i think a certain DJ can make a party happen, i will go.
i honestly don't care who they are.
it happens that the more popular DJs bring a better party, for example if 50 of my friends want to go that means it will be a good party. you can interchange the name of any DJ.
the venue also has to add to it.
if we talking international headliners i would usually decide to see a particular dj based on my liking of their production.
i usually go to listen to the style of music i like and i would usually have expectations on what dj plays based on what he/she produces
I have to admit, when I go out these days it's because I decide at 10pm that I feel like going out, so I go where everyone else is going.
Ditto overload.

Seriously though, it was a good idea to put this question out there to help all the aspiring DJs/promoters/venue owners in the scene. Cheers. |
