Halo: Reach

Preparing to be flamed. I know there's lots of Halo-haters on this forum.

But, stoked as I wait for the package to arrive from Amazon today.

First thoughts?

haha...been playing this for 2 weeks on a flashed console. Way too much hype for this...as already known by the true gamerz around here

I'm certain that almost all of them had fairly shitty single player campaigns. I only enjoyed the Halo series for the online gameplay

Well, personally, I'm loving it so far (haven't tried campaign, only multiplayer). Having a fucking blast with Headhunters.

i watched the review on gamespot. it was pretty lame. they were going on about how amazing everything is, including the main menu system.

it's just a menu..w/e it's not for me.

Haven't played since halo 2. Will I have any idea wtf is going on in multiplayer?

I'm not going back to the dark side just yet, PKC.

might get it but not for awhile. played the beta and was too much like halo 3.

i liked halo 3, but kind of bitter that i suck at it. my kd ratio in every CoD ends up being 1.2-1.4 as the weeks go on but both times i tried to get into halo 3 i averaged around 0.8 probably from fucking around with vehicles too much.

Indeed, though this one I honestly felt was the best yet. Nothing to be excited about by any means, but still worth the play through. I don't get the hype for these games at all. It's a solid shooter but MW2 and BF walk all over it.

I'm kinda curious about it, as I, literally, haven't done it in about 5 years, but have gotten at least competent at using a mouse & kb by now. I used to be good, but I'm a little worried I'd suck now, and that's just no fun.

I am looking forward to playing this game. I love the other ones so think this will be awesome

After spending a lot of time with this game, I really think Bungie hit the nail on the head.

Obviously, history has shown that you are either a Halo fan or you're not. But, Reach is so well done that I think it could even pull in some non-believers if they were to give it a real chance. It still feels like Halo, but it really has been tweaked and polished into a really solid shooter... and they totally nailed the fun-factor.

Mind you, I'm speaking about multiplayer. I haven't touched the campaign, yet.

The maps are very well designed, the guns are very well thought out, and the new armor abilities really add a cool element to the game (sprint ability really makes the game not feel so "Halo slow").

Anyhow, those are my thoughts on it so far. /fanboy

I'm giving it a shot.

I suck now, though. :/

There is almost no auto-aim anymore, which is taking some getting used to.

the only cool thing about this game is the big tank you get to drive. TANKS!

Scorpions were on Halo 2.

It's pretty funny to me that a bunch of these Multiplayer maps are just re-textured versions of Halo 2 maps. Ascension, Midship, Ivory Tower, + one of which I can't remember the name. People are bitching that they can't remember any of it, since they've played 2 other games since then.

Finally gotten back to being decent. Haven't run into cheating or griefing yet, which I find astonishing.

By the way--does all the armor actually do anything practical, or is it purely cosmetic?

Pretty sure the armor mods are just cosmetic.

I want that glass-looking helmet.

Had it for 4 days, not quite to warrant officer grade 1.

I think I'm just gonna save up for one of the death effects

Thank goodness. The absence of the Halo 2 maps (which I still consider the best Halo game) were the downfall of the past two for me. Still won't buy this, but maybe I'll play at a friends
