Royal York and Lakeshore area

So i was looking for a place along lakeshore between kipling and park lawn. I found a really nice apartment at lakeshore and royal york. It's AMAZING, everything I need. But now someone told me that this area used to be kinda sketchy. at least couple years ago. There were cars break ins, damages and even theft.

Any of you guys are familiar with this neighborhood? Can you please confirm or deny that?

This is the same area I plan on moving to. I am not sure about the area at night but I know during the day it is really nice. Very close to Harbourfront trail where I Rollerblade.

Gotta get the hell outta Oakville!

yes mimico is a little sketchy, it is not that bad but you are better off moving towards park lawn / windemere and lakeshore area ...

I lived at parklawn and berry road pretty much, lots of euros around there, would definitely choose there over royal york....windemere has got swansea mews....little project....but they usually stay in that little complex

I can bet you that every single area in the GTA has had 'break in, even theft'.

Parts of lakeshore are not the nicest, but I think you would be fine in that area. I bike through there a lot during the summer, and also drive through regularly. I have spent some time in the area on random days.

If you like the apt, go for it. You should be safe.

don't let the mews scare you off of swansea, it's harmless.

Lauren lives down closer to Kipling and Lakeshore but we drive past the area everyday. It has started to clean its act up a little and you're not quite in Mimico (but close). Its like anyplace I guess...keep your doors locked and your mace handy

Lived in this area most of my life. It's not that bad.

Oh common Sam. It's not that bad. My mother just moved into the building right on the lake and the other residents( all older ppl) say it's as safe as any other place...

Plus it 10 degrees warmer in winter and 10 degrees cooler in summer...

Canadians are such pussies.
"Yeah, I've spent all my life in Forest Hill, Lakeshore is so scary, I'm gonna piss my pants because that guy just looked at me."
Grow some balls, I've been living at Lakeshore and Mimico with my daughter since 2002, completely trouble free.
This area is fine, just like 90% of GTA.
