Galileo Was Wrong
I stumbled upon this gem last night...
http://www.catholicintl.com/galileowaswrong/index.html

I honestly don't know whether to laugh my ass off or to weep.
I know Jesus would weep.
You know, whenever people claim to have a PhD, they should be honest and tell everyone upfront what exactly it is that they study. This Sungenis guy is a theologian, he knows about physics as much as Richard Dawkins knows about theology =T
ps.: I first read "Galileo was Wong". Now that would be excerrent!
I vote we start a 'Send ******** to the Geocentrism Conference' fund.
This stuff literally makes me pity people like this. I do respect peoples beliefs, but come on, STILL believing in geocentrism? Give me a fucking break. It's just laughable.
These people know nothing about science and as such, shouldn't go around pretending that they do.
'The Mechanics Of Geocentrism', 'Scientific Experiments Showing The Earth Motionless in Space', 'Newton & The Exploitation Of Science'
I would love to go to all of these lectures, so I could dick all over them.

| but why would someone like me believe that? I look up, and I see all the heavenly bodies go round. Nothing in God's word contradicts that impression. Rather, it tends to confirm it. I had a good education, but it included very little science so I'm forced to go by authority where scientific subjects are concerned. You say the Earth goes round the sun, but a Bible-believing astronomer like Gerhardus Bouw says not. He's as well qualified to judge as the next astronomer, plus it's blindingly obvious why he doesn't get general agreement. I use Scripture to decide, and conclude that when Joshua told the sun, not the earth, to stand still, that was what he meant! |

Before clicking on the link its advisable to surround yourself with things that calm you down. Pills, puppies, liquor, it doesnt really matter as long as it keeps your head from exploding when you read/hear/see outrageously stupid things.

By the way, speaking of wacky fundies, the Westboro Baptist Church picketers of "God Hates Fags" fame will soon be holding one of their "protests" at a funeral in my city.
If you could arrange something along these lines, it would confer you the status of c0r legend.

For a while, especially since Vatican II, there has been a "traditionalist" strand among some Catholics that rejects the recent attempts of the church to accommodate the findings of modern science (and also other movements such as the post-Tridentine mass).
