The popularity of Trance in Europe???
I just wanted to get some sort of understanding as to how big trance REALLY is over there. For example, on my Dutch Dimension vid I see a few people who look like they know what's going on then there's the odd person who looks out of place. Are there quite a few people at these huge parties that don't know anything about the genre or the DJ???
What else would you listen to if you live in Europe, I dont know. . . not rap, cuz German rap is a mortal sin in my book.
As for Holland, trance is pretty popular over here. The bigger trance parties are almost always sold out a few days (or even weeks) in advance..
Unfortunately, on some bigger parties you see more and more people who just come to be able to say: 'I've been there'. This is mostly the case with Trance Energy and Sensation..
But luckily enough there are still quite a few good parties over here... Smaller ones, and also a few really good big parties..
It's not like trance is being played 24/7 on the radio, not at all.. So to that aspect trance is not so popular over here..
Trance is coming back in Germany. But only cheesy songs, most of them are covered....
well over here in spain (not including ibiza) trance is not very popular its all really about house music, but im sure Tiesto would rock the place if he played here !! lol

Trance is absolutly unheard of in Southern Ireland.
Once a year, either Tiesto or Jules plays in Dublin, only. But never anywhere else.
The clubs all play R&B, 80's (
) and LOTS AND LOTS OF CHEESE.
I have never been in a club that has played a SINGLE trance track.
If you tell someone you're into trance, they laugh at you.
It sucks. I've never been to a trance thing as they're all about 200 miles away and there's noone I know that likes it.

I think hard house is growing more and more here in the UK. Trance is still above it but i don't know if it will last. We have enough clubs down here that play trance/house so I'm not bothered

hardstyle (german style HH) is also on the rise in holland, up to the point where it's so popular/commercialised that some audiences only want to hear cheesy Hardcore/Gabber covers
But I shouldn't complain

Yeah it is big there. You come to Canada and all you see and hear is hip hop and pop music. And if trance music gets played on the radio or TV it's always lame cheesey mainstream stuff.
n switzerland is trance very popular as house music.
The biggest Techno Partys are Trance.
Streetparade 1'000'000
Energy 35000
Mainstation 100'000
Motion 25'000
Goliath 22'000
Evolution 15'000
On the radios in switzerland only the youth radios stations played trance :-(
We have about 10 really trance clubs in switzerland.
-oxa
-gate one
-d-lite
-top 10
-sky
-alcatraz
-....
In Oxa every Month played there TA like Dumonde, Judge Jules, Blan & Jones, Cosmic Gate...
in portugal the only trance there is it's psy/goa. And it's growing fast! But trance as we know it (melodic, progressive, hard) doesn't exist at all. You see cheese in many compilations at the stores, but not in TV. The only real trance cd's I ever seen on a store here on Madeira Island was Trancemaster.
Biggest electronic music scene though is house, by far. Although some of the best techno dj's play regularly, it's not as popular by no means.

Here in cyprus it totally sucks, most people are into cheese + rnb/hip hop/ garage/ rap etc. The proggresive scene is trying to grow, but I want trance, uplifting melodic and hard
damn
