Former coworker is in this (the bottom zombie), so I can't miss this.

edit: The beginning is a bit "Seven Days Later"ish but the way it's shot looks good. Will watch.

Degrassi the next generation was one of the best zombie porns ever. Except when the chick did e and became real. What a corker.

Posted by enydo on Sep-25-2010 19:52:

Based on the graphic novels?

Posted by iammesol on Sep-25-2010 20:14:

Yes.

Directed by the same guy who did The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption as well.

Posted by IL Duce on Sep-25-2010 20:19:

who directs it is unimportant if the show has really low production value like demonstrated in the trailer.

the beauty of zombie movies is the kitch factor, but this looks so far like it was shot by film students.

Directed by Frank Darabont? That's awesome news, I'll definitely be checking this out.

SYSTEM-J - I'll definitely be checking 'Dead Set' out, I can't believe I missed that one.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Sep-25-2010 23:11:

Frank Darabont also directed The Mist, which was a pretty terrible straight-up horror film. Be warned.

Posted by Lews on Sep-25-2010 23:57:

I've heard good things about Dead Set but haven't managed to catch it myself. Definitely on my list.

Posted by bas on Sep-26-2010 00:07:

I always thought this was a movie, interesting. This will probably be pretty sweet, AMC is good with TV shows. That said, I don't have AMC in HD so I probably won't watch this

Many people slated 'The Mist' but I actually enjoyed it. Yeah, the religion aspect was a little tedious, but overall I thought it was a good film, with a great ending (which is surprising considering endings aren't Stephen Kings strong point).

Frank Darabont is a good director, in my opinion.

The ending was the only thing that saved it from being utterly appalling. The acting was terrible throughout (particularly wooden are the opening exchanges between the main character and his neighbour), much of the scares were utterly contrived and almost every single character in the film acted relentlessly and unrealistically stupid.

It's not just your typically frustrating horror movie dolts who never run the fuck away when they clearly should do. The whole pattern of monster attacks on the supermarket just felt unbelievably stupid. If a bunch of monsters had smashed through the windows and killed a few people I would stay the fuck away from that glass and keep the lights low as much as possible. I would not continue to mill around right in front of the fucking windows with the lights on acting without any paranaoia until another monster appeared. The film was clearly written so the monster attacks were plot points conveniently arranged around other plot points. What's unforgivable is the characters act like they know that.

I could go on listing example after example that just destroyed any credibility the film had. If a horror film is going to be scary, you have to buy into the concept and suspend your disbelief. It's impossible to do that when no real humans would ever act like the carboard-cutout plot people you're watching dick about on screen.

Even the editing was bunk. What was the deal with stopping Host Of Seraphim halfway through the climactic montage and then starting it up again? Were the film-makers incapable of editing a sequence so it fit the length of the music they had chosen?

This fan made opening title sequence is so flippin' good:
