Review: Trance Takeover @ Pacha (both days)

this was definitely an excellent way to celebrate my birthday all weekend long for this special golden year (turned 22 on the 22nd).

unfortunately there are no TL's because i was way too lazy this time.

night 1: killer sets from EVERYONE. for those that thought marco v would be playing uplifting trance, i don't know wtf you were thinking. rory tore it up in the basement and played some sickkkkkk hip hop :P. kaeno's closing set was incredible and now i see why he switched to digital. it's perfect for building crowd energy.

night 2: left right after i heard stoneface & terminal's this moment for the 4th time in 24 hours (still love it). got there at the beginning of ronski's set and the entire thing was crazy. glad i FINALLY saw him in person. didn't hear revolving doors, but oh well. andy's set was also awesome, although he started with the same 4 tracks as he did in may. i originally thought he remixed ridgewalkers - find again (referring to the mystery from his twitter/facebook the other day), but that wasn't it because its not an anjuna tune and thats what he said he was remixing. didn't hear any of the other obvious ones so i guess its still in progress.

anyway, i had a great time. hardly saw any TA's outside of the very regular massive attendees so hopefully i will catch you all next time!

First night was simply amazing Filo & peri played wonderfull set just as we all expected.Marco v was great also but i had to drift to the basement to listen to my friends rory and wayde. Overall Great nights
both nights were great.

went fri got there at 12 and stayed till 3. filo & peri played some decent asot stuff but fuckin marco v ripped that place up with some heavy energy craziness

cant id much but i think f&p dropped ashley (alex morph remix), swh - one, mogui - oyster (michael woods rmx), edx - thriev (festival mix), wippenberg - pong. and after that it got kinda slow. then mv came on. i think he played faithless tyn (tiesto rmx), oyster too, unprepared and bunch of other stuff couldnt id that sounded pretty good

Unfortunately could not make it out Saturday, I was still trying to recover from this nasty cold that's been wrecking me, although I was sad to miss Ronski, Ali, and Brendan.

Friday night was all about the basement for me. Rory, Frank, and Wayde were superb. Flawless sets and non-stop energy, each of them were in completely in their element. Made the night for me.

Great to see everyone as always, and thanks to everyone who came out and stopped by to catch us all for a bit in the Funky Room as well!

I had a great time. Thanks to everyone who stuck it out for my set in the basement. You guys had such a great vibe!

I caught part of what Dani and Frank were playing upstairs and most of Jims set in the funky room and they were rocking the place. Real groovy.

The basement was a ton of fun too. Frank and Rory rocked it as always and I had a blast.

"Hey DJ...you can't fool me...can you play some Rihanna!?"

See you all next time!

I really enjoyed playing both nights, and was happy to see people getting there early to support. First time I ever used CDJ 2000s which was a real treat. I was all over the different floors both nights, and can definitely agree that the music was great all around. Thanks to Massive and Pacha for having me, and throwing a nice trance-filled weekend.

It's not even finished yet, I was making a "playable" edit of it 4 minutes before I stepped out the door to Pacha! It'll be on my artist album coming out next year

I had a fuking BLAST!

Both days. Except saturday i could only stay for Ron's set cuz my poor Datty was up for 28 hours just so I can see my hero.

Which btw... I am going to be picky and say it was not my fav set by Ron - this year. I though his Toronto & DC set last month were much better. His first hour was a lil bleh to me - but he went on at 12 so that is kinda early. Rest of his set was killer.

OMG that vocal track after Anphonic was just AMAZINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

And he played my songgggggggggg.

ECO & BIG MIKE - PROPS. great sets on friday. F&P too. I enjoyed the locals more than Marco.

can someone please explain why and when pacha decided to put plexi-glass encompassing the entire mezzanine so there is no more open air overlooking the dancefloor? i havent been to pacha in a while being from out of town but that was disappointing to see!

I think your talking about the funky room floor (the mezz is the VIP), and yeah they had plexi-glass surrounding the railing. I think this was only to keep the the funky room music separated from the main floor since there were diff DJ's on those floors all night. I think on most big nights (DT for instance) they take the glass down...i could be wrong though.

yea youre right. i meant the 2nd floor not the mezzanine. i certainly hope it was only a temporary thing. ive never seen them do that before in all the times ive been there so it probably was just to separate the music.

that glass has been there all the times ive been there...

They pretty much always have it up, to keep the main room music from bleeding upstairs where they have other djs playing.

They take it down though when they have a huge act play...guys like ATB, Armin, Guetta...those nights they have the main room music playing up there and no glass.

Good times Friday night!! I didn't quite make it for Saturday, but Friday was awesome. Had a great time tagging upstairs with Dani, and ripping up some heavy stuff in the basement. Rory and Wayde were def on point too. Sorry I missed Ry Ty

Your right... they put it in to seperate the music... if it was open, you would not be able to distinguish one from another... usually when it is open, they move hip hop to the top floor
