Views on America, from a European standpoint

3 years ago I did a road trip on the West Coast, and this year I did the same on the East Coast. All in all I visited and/or crossed 20 states in those two trips. I decided to put all my views into a single post, elaborating on my views on the United States. However, every time I tried to put into words how incredibly awesome New York is, how wonderfully beautiful the woods in Maine near the border with Canada are, how free I felt while traveling the immense plains of Death Valley, or how stunningly extravagant Las Vegas is, I can't seem to get past one thing that crossed my eye...

What in the fuck is up with Florida and fat redneck fucks on handicap scooters, with a KFC bucket between their fat thighs, and a gallon of coke in their stubby fingers?

I saw this headline today and just knew where it happened before I'd even read the article...

//Well not that specific headline, it was a different one that didn't have Florida in the title. Fucking.

I wonder how wide the canal was. Judging from movies etc they're not that wide.

Sadly drowning quite common and a terrible way to die. A circumstance like that is quite common in any area where there's a lot of islands because people can't judge distances and are overconfident when it comes to swimming.

A lot of tourists have died in Croatia trying to swim to "nearby" islands. What looks like 200m is in fact 700-800m with very strong currents and people get swept away, or back towards their starting point so they swim endlessly in basically the same spot.

Happens less these days with more people around and quick rescue but water isn't something to be laughed at.
It would be interesting to know how wide the canal was but even if it was small, it doesn't surprise me someone died.

Drowning, terrible way to go.
