The worlds Toughest Gangs !

Anyone seen that tv documentry on the worlds toughest gangs.

Who do you think is the hardest gangs or mafias. my top 5 are.



1. Russian Maffia
2. Yakkuza
3. The real italian mafia
4. Highway 61
5. The real IRA

5T a gang comprimised of Vietamese in Sydney in the mid 1990s, this then influence asian/vietamese youths to start their own gangs. And now they are everywhere, ie train stations etc mugging the fragile looking.

The orginazations you mentioned are really terrorist groups and not gangs, at least in the way I think of them. Some of the gangs that scare the shit out of me are the different chinnese gangs in chinatown san fransisco, I saw those guys and almost pissed my pants sometimes when I'm in central or south central la i see some gangstas that are pretty scary too. The ones around my house probably arnt toughest in the world material, but theres a hellicopter flying around more nights than not

Russian and Italian mafia, very organized crime, very powerful - both of them. Their influence extends overseas, but they are most powerful in their own contries.

1. Al Quada are not tough.
2. Al Quada are a bunch of runaway chickens in hiding.
3. Al Quada are the worlds most hated, thats for sure.

Chinese Triads
They've been around longer than any other 'gang', have the most extensive coverage(most members world wide) and are highly organized.
Not to mention they are ruthless as well(some)

YAKUZA In Japan, organized crime and criminals come under the
general heading of Yakuza. According to tradition, the name is
derived from the worst possible score in a Japanese card game.

undercount the Yakuza, numbering only those names found in
confiscated membership rolls, or recorded from routine
police intelligence reports.

Like the Sicilian Mafia and other underworld organizations, the
Yakuza are formed into families, but in Japan other distinctions
emerge including that of the oyabun - kobun (father role - child
role) relationship, between Yakuza chiefs and their underlings.

The Yakuza evolved into their current form late in the
19th-century under figures like Toyama Mitsuru. This son of a
Samurai founded the Genyosha (Dark Ocean) Society, and later
Toyama's top aide Ryohei Uchida founded the Amur River Society
(Black Dragons). Like organized crime in other cultures, the
Yakuza began to control construction labor and dockside labor,
adding to traditional areas of enterprise in the vices,
prostitution, gambling, liquor distribution, and entertainment.

In the late 1960s or early 1970s the Yakuza moved into the
lucrative narcotics trade and in recent years have stepped up
their trade in firearms and other contraband. According to
various sources, Yakuza have formed alliances and working
relationships with Chinese Triads, Sicilian and American
Mafia, Columbian drug cartels, Jamaican Posses, and assorted
other criminal organizations throughout the world.

Because of their unique role in Japan's history and popular
culture, and their usefulness in providing muscle to control
labor unions, and providing anonymous services to the public
for a variety of typical underworld products in vice and
contraband -- accomodations between Yakuza, police,
ultranationalists, government, political parties, and secret
societies seems to be an accepted fact of life in Japan.

Yakuza are active worldwide, wherever criminal enterprises flourish.
In addition, Yakuza will be encountered in larger numbers and
wield greater influence wherever large communities of overseas
Japan reside for work and study. The Yakuza have been very skillful
in the employment of intermediaries and the absence of Japanese
within a community does not mean an absence of Yakuza.

Well Az you are right about their a Terrorist organisation more then a gang though the IRA do take part in gang style operations they all ways have done, as they can't always rely on people to make donations of millions to the cause, to my knowledge they deal arms with people, I wouldn't be suprised if some of them dealed with drugs, because any drug dealers in IRA turf who are caught or suspected of dealing get a beating issued on them and members of their family in which their usually approached and have their kneecaps smashed up with baseball bats, one of the UK's strongest men Glen Ross I think his name is had a lot of trouble with some IRA members as he's a doorman and a fight broke between the doorstaff and some of the IRA brigade in that area, he had a beating issued, in which afterwork when he walked home, a van appeared 8 men with balaclava's baseball bats, pick axe handles, iron bars attacked him in a set of alotments, I saw pictures of his head and his brain nearly got crushed as he was basicially mobbed, but the doctors said as he was such a giant, his skull was a lot thicker then a normal persons, so he survived but his head was split in three.

Rozzer you probably mean the Provo IRA, as the Real IRA are very secret and clandestine about their operations the only thing people know is this theres only around 200 members and their based in County Louth in Ireland. The Provo's are the main IRA who are in the peace deal, but theres been certain scenes like when Rangers beat Celtic in the cup final, two loyalist men got shot in the head, so there is sort of a gang lifestyle, also I read a story that the US Government were worried since theres a ceasefire and weapons being discommisoned that former members of the IRA would move to the US and work as hitmen there, but it was just an article and I don't think its really truthfull probably just some very paranoid politcians, theres a lot of gangs in the USA of Irish Americans that have links with the IRA most well know were the Westies of New York and Winter Hill Gang of Boston, but these have died down since the early 90's the well know members are in hiding or in jail, but theres definatly still someone who's Irish running the rackets, they've probably been carefull not left an evidence or witnesses, the cops know who's who in gangs but they don't always have the evidence to make the arrest, who knows in a few years you usually find out.

back to gangs if you go back into the History there was gangs of bandits and so on who commited crime but never offically took part in a gang lifestyle. In the 1880's the first offical gangs were established in New York, and they were gangs of mostly Irish immagrants and a couple of Italian immagrants.
