is it just me or does anyone else feel that Bill Gates wants his products hacked?

ive been contemplating for ages now whether or not Bill Gates actually wants his software to be distributed for free. I mean, it all seems too easy, as soon as XP came out, it was cracked within weeks and distributed illegally around the world even quicker. I mean, you'd think that the most powerful corparation in the world would be able to stop this, but it continues to happen. Do you guys think MIcrosfot knows it, but DOESNT want to do anything about it for some strange reason, for example, just a second ago a program i was running froze and xp gave me the error message asking if i wished to send the information to thier site to be analised, now from that they can find out who sent it, what product id the sender's xp version was and hence find out if it was purchased illigally or not. It just seems weird.......any thoughts??

note:

i by no means am suggesting that i am using a cracked version of xp, i don't even download music.... what! i dont!

Posted by TimeportE on Jul-28-2002 10:59:

companies can try all they want to make there software uncrackable but it's just a job that isn't possible!! they are an enormous amount of crack groups who will all try to crack the software, i'ts just an undone job!!

Posted by flystyler on Jul-28-2002 11:05:

This is how it works. Company makes the best protection ever, then one of the people who made the best protection ever also releases the info for a sum of money on how to get round it.

This is how it works. And then as soon as it is cracked it is put up on an ftp for all to download and spread worldwide within seconds

So doesnt matter what microsoft does there will always be an insider, or a team of 100 people accross the world working day and nite until they have cracked it

Thank god for the internet

Weeks?! I heard that pirated versions of XP were being sold in Malaysia a few months BEFORE the original version was released!!!

Posted by discitelli on Jul-28-2002 11:14:

ok i see all your points, but the quetion still remains unanswered that whats stopping xp from finding out actually who the people are using these illegal versions, and then sending them a program on there next "update" that will screw everything up. C'mon, i mean these guys create this AMaZING software, and they cant even figure out how do what i said. nope, i'm not buying that.... sounds too fishy

And the FINAL was being sold over there THE SAME DAY THAT IT RELEASED!!!

Posted by noonboy on Jul-28-2002 13:41:

LOL microsoft sucks! windows 2000 pro was hacked 20 minutes after it was finished, it was not even released yet

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jul-28-2002 13:42:

That's the way it goes.

I think Microsoft DELIBERATELY lets the cracked copies spread, then they screw you over with the constant "updates" that XP gives you...

...sooner or later they'll have total control over your PC...

Posted by PatMcGroin on Jul-28-2002 13:58:

okay, this may sound a bit harsh, but thats me

microsoft and bill gates doesn't give a rats flying f*ck about you who is using this cracked version of xp that over a million other people have (because its the same product code)....i mean seriously what will they do? throw you in jail for ONE copy, nope. they just don't care, its not worth it to them, even if you do buy that ONE license

what they do care about is those big ass companies that require a different license for every machine the product is installed on....because even if you actually buy Windows XP and Office XP and whatever else crap for your company and you install it on more than one machine, its illegal. granted microsoft isn't going to care about 2 or 3 comps, but when its like 50,000....those are a lot of licenses the company would have to buy, hence microsoft will give a damn

so once again, why the HELL would they care about YOU and your cracked windows xp that a lot of other people have

edit: so it doesn't matter how hackable it is, all microsoft cares about it selling you the damn license, because those you can't just make up

all right, so that means i can freely downloaded pirated software!!! yaha! yay!!

ya, the saddest part ever is that they don't even have a copy protection for their cds whatsoever... c'mon, you're making this too easy, at least you could've forced us to search for a copy protection crack...

Posted by Philby on Jul-28-2002 15:12:

Also, I think they don't care as much how you got Windows, just that you are actually using Windows, and not another OS.
A similar point with the licenses is with companies like Gateway and stuff that sell built PCs, that come with Windows and Internet Explorer already installed, that is one thing they got in trouble about. Why would the average Joe try and get another browser when he gets one free already installed in his computer? So yeah I think the point is they don't care how you got windows, just that you have windows.

Right on, its all part of Bill Gate's secret plan to take over the world. Its amazing how many ppl use Windows compared to other OS's.
Pure genious

Since I use 'my' XP pro (was it april 2001?) my pc stopped crashing every 2 days.

But: I feel being watched...

I am absolutely sure Bill is scanning our databases!

BTW: that USA-Army game; I would never install that kinda stuff on my pc. They already know everything, but then they will know even more than everything

greetz, conspiracy JP

Hmmmm, XP has the most security flaws / breaches out of any other OS. It's a peice of junk and I deleted it after 1 month of using it.

For two reason:
1 - It only worked well with half the software I had, the rest ended up crashing all the time.
2 - I read lots of media reports regarding the OS and all I saw were "security breaches, security breaches, security breaches, "

I have official info from a MS rep that they don't give a damn about home-use (of MJ and windows...), they only care about companies because they're easier to scare. He also said that for all they care a guy that buys a single copy of windows/office for work can take it home and install it there too (they even agree to activate it on phone twice with the same license).

One thing's for sure, fucking MS won't get a dime out of me - ever.

DAMN!!! How'd you get it in April 2001?! Are releases THAT far ahead of stores? Was it glitchy back then? Was it the same as a store bought version on launch day? When was Windows 2000 "released"? Was it even released IN 2000?

Is this the same for the Adobe software and every other software that's used in companies and at home? If so, no wonder why software doesn't have copy protection built into the CDs (games do)!

Posted by sothis on Jul-29-2002 01:14:

1. i believe service pack 1 for xp contains shit that lets them track if its pirated

2. bill gates kicks ass because he gives me my paycheck. i dont care about spending money on the products anyways because i can get them for like 20 bucks at the company store.

i just figure they do it on purpost for somereason just as the same reason as a anti virus company would probly makle the viruses for there program just so ppl can buy it
