zeK - Maximal (Deep Techno/Industrial) Sept 2010

It has been a while since I recorded a mix and this time I decided to take a different route. Deep techno has been peaking my curiosity for quite a while now but I never thought I would actually decide to mix it.

After a few days of practice, countless hours on Beatport and 300 dollars poorer I bring you this mix... Looking back at what I did before I can safely say that this one is my favorite.

Just a warning this is mix is pretty deep and heavy for the most part, but it makes me move and I hope it does the same for you.

2 - Markus Suckut - Wormhole
3 - Traversable Wormhole - Superluminal (Chris Liebing Remix)

Niiiice tracklist, downloading!

ps: 128 is so 1997 :P

Posted by zeKsg on Sep-29-2010 05:20:

If I only had the time to figure out how to make Audacity for MAC mp3 export not 128 would be fun

I mixed this of one go the pretty much, just picked the tracks, you can see I missed a loop at one point cause I dont have a controller for the 3rd deck :S and macbook mouse loop blows :P

I might reupload a fixed high quality version when I have time.

Good stuff! I will listen to it once more tomorrow and will give you a proper review.

dling

Well the mixing is all proper but I just don't dig the tracks. There are a few that I really like but the rest I couldn't get into. The set itself is fine, I think it just comes down to personal taste.

ye same

What I tried to do here is combine the deeper sound with the more raw techno out there, starting it off slow and building from there.

Again this isn't for everyone, and if you are used to listening to housier stuff this might not be for you, but I believe I have found the general direction which I want to take.

Thanks for the listen though, and thanks for all the positive comments

i finally gave this a listen this morning.

I enjoyed it, which was surprising because i have grown tired of the tech side of things big time. Goood job piz dietz.

Too bad you are a few years late

Posted by zeKsg on Oct-11-2010 17:34:

a few dozen years ago u used to dj trance ;P

i expect you to jump on the next fad as it is going out of style

the techno releases on any for sale site are a cesspool of cliche's at the moment. So much bad music being released in one genre it is crazy. So bad that it might need a mascot like a unicorn for certain other genres.

what?? how about fuck no. the techno I enjoy (similar to this style) is actually fucking booming at the moment with so many quality releases coming... lots of dormant labels stepping it up in releases as well I think it's a great time for this style. Cool up and coming labels like Stroboscopic Artefacts and whatnot putting up stellar releases as well, I for one am loving it

Posted by Goebbel Goebbel on Oct-11-2010 18:08:

i've been listening to techno for a very long time....the only thing new in the genre are slower bpms.

I guess i just got sick of the same loops being used for the last 15 years/stopped doing drugs.

probably both

i'll always love tech...i think the fact that so many mp3 labels releasing completely disposable music is leading to its loss in popularity.

"ooooooooh white noise buildup" is just not cutting it anymore to me personally. It doesn't mean you can't like it.

i'm not just slagging tech...more people have "labels" than people that don't these days. When it takes 4 hours to buy 3 tracks, it is a testament to the state of electronic music in a whole i think.

you're just beyond jaded, that's all I think

Posted by Goebbel Goebbel on Oct-11-2010 18:30:

if listening to the same sample for 15 years makes me jaded then i am.

is it so hard to attempt doing something new? clack clack boom boom gets old, you will see.

"you're jaded, you should listen to the same track being produced over and over by different names and like it because i do."

is what you call a straw man argument. look it up.

btw zek bought me a big mac trio in exchange that i turn this thread into something worthy.

I am just starting to grow tired of all the mnml lol.

I believe there is a lot more quality control with deep techno/techno labels like CLR, scopostrobic artefacts, osgut ton, etc... then per say all the mnml so called "techno" being released...

I agree with you on the fact that not a lot has changed, and I find alot of tracks 3-4 years old that sound and can be mixed easily with the stuff being put out now on the labels I have listed... However there is a lot of new exciting, original music coming out in the genre...(Sonic Groove)

Sure I haven't been in the scene for many years, but I don't think it's all that bad.

Posted by Goebbel Goebbel on Oct-11-2010 19:19:

do you still take vitamins?

/redundant.

either way i gave you some positive feedback, this genre is just severely treading in the go nowhere puddle. The reason you can still mix tracks that were done a few years ago with ease is because they are the same tracks with new names

kick kick kick kick takakaswish kick kick kick kick takakaswishswishbeep
