When most of us were contemplating which direction to go in life, a 21 years young DJ Producer firmly etched his worth in stone in the wonderful world of electronic dance music in such a way most can dream of in their entire career. Ranked the #1 DJ in Australia, productions signed to the #1 DJ in the world Armin Van Buurens record label, Armada and being play listed by artists such as Above & Beyond, Sander Kleinenberg, Andy Moor and Markus Schulz has become all in a days work for Tyson Illingworth. But this is the name you will only read in the credits attached as we know him as something else for these reasons;

Tidy productions, very tidy live performances; to us - tyDi by name

tyDi, AKA Tyson Illingworth originally reigns from the appropriately named Sunshine Coast where at a very early age he developed a desirable passion for music. Although classically trained, a strong interest for electronic music forced an attraction to the dance world where at the early age of fifteen all hands where on decks when the alias of tyDi was born. Who would have known, only one year later the name would appear on bills such as Slinky and Godskitchen with residencies at club nights around the country?

This desire would soon see him packing his bags for the big smoke with a vision for Modern Music technology firmly in grasp and with Brisbane as his new home; it was nt long before Tyson was invited to study at the prestigious Conservatorium of Music. Now immersed in musicianship, production duties and live performances, tyDi became a resident of the reputable and credible Family Nightclub in Brisbane which can proudly claim Australias #1 Nightclub several years running. From here; an extensive tour of Asia, multiple record label signings and a hectic touring schedule back home in Australia.

Still faithfully holding his residency at Family today his sets are supported by a legion of fans on Friday night that embrace tyDis refusal to be pigeon-holed as a one genre DJ. As only an artist would, he intelligently compiles multi-genre sets cleverly catering to the many and pleasing the wants and needs of the clubbing sound, effortlessly presenting a unique experience every time, with out a question. Although underground productions and progressive tunes are well within his mixed bag of tricks, it would be his ability to surface an unmatchable sound that is tyDi whenever his presence takes the stage.

In the following months tyDi was seen on bills all across the country playing main-stage to thousands at A-list outdoor Festivals (Big Day Out, Slinky, Summafieldayze, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher), corporate gigs and club events. Being in the same sentence as International superstars soon became a reality with regular performances such as closing Summafieldayze after Christopher Laurence and warming up for Paul Van Dyk numerous times in 07. As for 08 well it just kept coming

On the production front, tyDi is hard at work in the studio constantly, both electronically and on the live tip working with a wide arrangement of artists and producers. tyDi has remixed single packages alongside Slovenian production wizard Valentino Kanzyani and has been commissioned to remix projects by labels such as EMI not to mention collaborations with artists like Andy Moor. As for tyDi originals, well its quite an achievement to be able to say that you have productions signed to the #1 DJ in the World - Armin Van Buurens very own label, Armada. Each release, one after the other has made huge impressions on the International scene in 08 featuring on numerous compilations and play listed on radio the world over. To add credit to his wide array of talents tyDi has already begun work for multi media including Film, TV and Video Games which will feature both soundtrack and sound effect production.

Tysons passion for music and life becomes evident in his very upfront and contagious display of energy live on stage in his performances. The personality portrayed is infectious and the sound is a breath of fresh air in a tired and repetitive market. Do yourself a favour and check yourself in to a dance floor near you, where the date matches a flyer where the name tyDi appears in bold letters.

tyDi is the type of artist you all seem to want more of. He doesn't just make the same old sound that is played over and over

Whelp, I'm impressed.

That... was fun! The dude has tons of energy and was letting it out by jumping onto the speakers and shaking hands with his fans during his set. Great music, and he spent lots of time in the crowd during his encore song - and after his set - taking photos, talking with people, signing autographs and giving lots of hugs.

Really nice guy. Very glad he made it all the way over to SF!

I'm uploading a bunch of videos today, but this one stuck out to me as one of the coolest of them - his encore song, "Calling" - because it shows the great vibe of the night and how friendly he was with his fans.

(sorry for the few seconds of muffled sound when I inadvertently covered the mic)

Set it to 720 HD, turn it way up and enjoy!

Yeah, all that was on the stream. They were moving the camera and all.

Was a little lame how the audio was from a camera (or boom) mic on the video feed. Should set it up to use a mix of direct-feed audio and also from the camera mic so you can crowd noise (I like hearing the crowd, but using solo an external mic caused a lot of reverb in the audio in the stream).

it's been considered, doing around 70% direct mixer feed, 30% ambient mic. also, most djs/managers are protective about unreleased tracks so they'll ONLY allow ambient mic feeds when the stream is being done by a third party. of course it's different when a dj records his set to be reviewed/edited before getting released.

it would be up to mugasha to bring the mixer and set that up though.

overall tydi was very good. great tracks, great stage presence, very entertaining.

but i think he peaked waaaay to early. there wasn't anywhere for the set to go after a while. i don't want to criticize that kind of refreshing energy, but there could have been more buildup or teasing and leading the crowd. same with the stage antics, climbing onto the speakers and running out to the front of the stage... it was cool at first, but then the novelty wore off when he did it every 5 minutes for the next two hours.

Posted by Tosh on Oct-08-2010 19:23:

I didn't even get to watch the feed, i was asleep by 10pm from having a cold and a stomach flu. Oh well.......
I'm glad he was fun, but the peaking too early sounds like it was a problem for a few people.

anyone know if it was recorded?

Posted by sheffy on Oct-08-2010 21:29:

I'd love to have a downloadable version of the stream, or at least an audio recording - although I don't typically see recordings from Ruby Skye.

tyDi spun for 2 hours and I have about 75 minutes of it on video in clips that I'm putting on YouTube. That's better than nothing I guess!

Oh man, such a fun party!!! TyDi is such an awesome performer, definitely got the crowd hyped and going.
One of the best vibes I've experienced at TORQ.

Great music, xDJxSAPHYREx! Thanks for posting your set list! I love when DJs do that so I can look up songs I liked, but wasn't familiar with.

As a side note, I wanted to thank you for ID'ing a number of songs on my YouTube videos recently.
