my friend did an awesome mashup of falling backwards. off topic but here it is:

as for george acosta himself, he's put out a few dece tracks but i don't really hear any hype about him. last time he was in nyc there was another competing night and i don't think any ta's went to see him haha

Posted by edge007 on Oct-05-2010 04:10:

Yah its kinda sad though, cause if you think about it, with his name, youll think hes a house dj lol... but yah, heard him once and he was really awesome just that he doesnt or never had the chance to do the right venue, thats my opinion.

Posted by trancension on Oct-05-2010 04:19:

One of my favorite DJs definitely. I love his style.

Haven't liked his productions lately though to be honest. Too poppish.

I saw him that night at Deep as well. jason Jollins opened, and I think Victor Dinaire closed. Fun night.

Haven't heard him since. His style is a bit on the commercial side these days right?

Posted by edge007 on Oct-05-2010 04:29:

Maybe commercialized but not too the extent that some other dj/producers did. I would like to hear/see him spin in the NYC area again though... and I totally agree, he has his own sound as well...

Ah, Acosta... Saying that name brings so many memories back!

At least in Miami he was the freakin' man from 1999 through 2004. With his albums like Members on X, Awake, Release AM and PM, Next Level, Touched,
and Miami and him being owner of Grooveman Music and a resident of Shadow Lounge and then at Level which is now Mansion, then at Club Spy which is now Set. Yea, I am taking it back! Lol

He had weekly broadcasts from Level, his release parties were insane! He really helped bring trance to Miami, while everyone was listening to house, and trust me, it was the crappy Miami house! Lol

The problem with Acosta is that he got too diva. One year he didn't get main stage at Ultra so he did not play and only played at Club Spy along with Alex Gold that year, I am pretty sure that was either 2002 or 2003. Then he got in a fight with the people at Level/Mansion so he did not show for his last show there. And he was in a fight with Space owners and w it was a running joke that he wouldn't show either during WMC but he did (that was in 2006, epic night of when it was Weds/thurs morning, Armada night was in main room and Mauro Picotto was on the terrace for Meganite, Acosta thought he was playing mainroom but played on the terrace around 9 am but was playing the same songs everyone heard earlier in the night).

My friend is on his management team now, and he is still getting booked and I hope his popularity picks up again. He has always been a FLTA favorite, it was thanks to him that I am the trance whore that I am today lol and I would never trade in a million years all those times I saw him spin, best memories ever!

Eh, not really to be honest.

There are some real douchers out there for sure, but for the most part, a lot of them are pretty down to Earth and cool.

I was just kidding dude, Im a dj myself, I met you once at a Massive Event party and have supported Massive and spun with Massive a couple of times, once with M.I.K.E. (hes kool too) closing with ECO, and the classic night recently at Love(btw awesome closing set at trance take over). I know Eco, Mike Saint Jules just to name a few. There's a lot of down to earth dj's out there and I wish all are the same and also helps out local talents.

But what I dont like in this scene are the promoters and event coordinators. They seem to fuck with you any way they can.

It's a common misconception, but no. Some of them are absolute sweethearts. People are people, it takes all kinds.

I'm flying to Alanta today, my friend is opening for George at a cancer benefit. Looking forward to it. I DLed his lastest radio show (lost world 326), a live show from Seattle. I like it. He has some good mashups and even samples Traffic a few times. 45 minutes in, he's killin' it and then he drops some pop lyrical track at 120bpm with little bass. Fail!!!

Besides that, a great show.
Yes Angelfalls is a classic and yes, last name 'Acosta' from Miami, gotta play house. Lol!!! I was supprised first time I heard a set.
