Sad times for Trance... =(
Not that I've ever really been on the site but Trance.nu is shutting down. I don't get it, why not just sell the site, or pass it on to someone who could handle it.
The Energy 2011 lineup is out and it's not even half Trance.
Man... this sucks.
I never imagined they'd change Trance Energy. It's like heartbreaking to me. I'm one of my loyal/biggest fans of that event there is. I listen to all the livesets over and over and think about it all year long. There was nothing like it. No matter how tough things get I've managed to save money each year for the past 6 to get my ass there. That day is the highlight of my year and now it's gone.
There will never be anything like it. =(
why is trance.nu shutting down?
definitely sad day for trance to see they are shutting down their site. And trance energy is no longer trance energy
listened to the TE live stream this year too. what an awesome event - that's sad indeed. and love parade is dead too 2010 is not a good year for trance
line up isn't even bad at all. i mean of course its nowhere near previous years line ups but hey, at least there is no david guetta or deadmau5.

Oh, based on the other sub-forums, this is looking like a seamless immersion.

I'm really curious what the negative-feedback vs. new-people-interested ratio is for "Energy"?

i've never been to TE and haven't really followed the event for that long- but based on who they booked last year vs. who they booked now...I'd say that the negative feedback from the people who have been into TE for a while would be eclipsed by the new people. Then again, who knows. I think this years line up would be bigger here in the US. I'm not really a fan of wolfgang gartner, for instance, but his following is really growing over here isn't it?
it's a very interesting thought though

THIS SUCKS. Sorry but was worth the ALL CAPS.
Now I see why the took out Trance from the title. Its trance but not the same style as previous - which defined trance energy. I knew this would happen. THis event used to be so damn good that no matter what stage you went to, it was insane. Now its really per artist based and not per stage.

i think everything its a cycle.. if you know/read up after your favorite producers/dj you'll find a common pattern. they all started because they didn't like how the music was changing in their times. so they did something about it. are you?
thats why i bought my turntables. i said fuck it, i know my style.
Imo.... that line up is still decent.
yeah i like the lineup too...esp airbase
Yeah it's a great lineup... for any other event.
Trance Energy has always been hands in the air, balls to the walls, high energy Trance. From the opening DJ to the last track played.
That EXECUTE stage is ummm, not trance at all.
And judging by the lineup on the PLAY stage, I doubt any of them will be playing much trance either.
Never heard of Kutski.
And that's supposed to be Lange, not Long.

Like I've been saying in other threads, the problem with "Energy" is that it's no longer a signature festival with a specific theme.
Now it's another clone festival where the promoters try to 'expand' their audience by bringing in a variety of acts, but the result is a festival that's similar to everything else. Everyone is trying to do the "we're gonna cover all bases" thing. And it's pretty fucking boring IMO.
There are a million other big festivals you can go to if you want to hear electro/house/techno. But there was only one big event you could go to if you wanted to hear trance: Trance Energy. And with the renaming of the brand and lineup revealed, ID&T has killed the niche they created.
First...im so sad t.nu is gone. I dont even have words!!!
Second, the complaining about TE is driving me nuts. It was never all trance to begin with. And the line up now is decent imo and im a trance brat. People need to take a moment and realize that not only is music involved but money. end of story.
either go, or dont- but nothings really changing all that much.
In regards to t.nu, it's not the first site to go down....
A lot is going on behind the scene's in the music media industry. Much of it has to do with the economy and website administration processes. Unfortunately I have experienced the same situation myself in recent months.
Many of them work in one of the following ways:
Site pays for hosting, and requests donations to keep it going from members.
Site gets advertisers, and uses this money to pay their hosting fee's and/or contributors.
The end result is.... no paid advertising = no income = no resources to pay your team = no more team or you are left with whatever volunteers you have left afterward so you experience a decline in content.
Teams which are 100% volunteer can keep running since the staff was never paid in the first place as long as the site owner continues to pay the hosting fee.
There are also sites that are proven in their success like TA, and other sites which are related to a magazine or other publication are still solid and will likely always be.

| Originally posted by RoBDaWG Yeah I've been thinking the same thing. The thing is, Trance Energy has such a following, that people just automatically know it's that time of year, and/or are waiting for it to be announced, and it had that special feeling from being around so long, and having shitloads of it's livesets spread around the 'net. People come from all over the world to Trance Energy, and the hype starts really early. This new party is "just another event" now, and most of the people giving negative feedback, are the same people that are usually hyping the hell out of it. So I wonder if changing the event is going to eliminate a lot of the internationally crowd that doesn't want to spend a grand or two for "just another party." I really haven't seen any positive response from people that actually attend the event. Man I hope this party flops. Plus there's already an "Energy" in Switzerland. |
