Danish

I start learning this language in a few days, and I was wondering if anyone from Denmark could recommend any books or television programs for children I could check out.

Why do you want to learn Danish? Unless you plan to spend the rest of your life there you really dont need it. If you take a holiday there Danes usually prefer if you just speak English.

Only useful if you are a Dane.

Actually, I've always wanted to read Kierkegaard in the original. However, unless God enlightens me with the super doper ability to read what he wrote, I'm going to remain an atheist entertained by translations.

I can understand everything they say. But the language is still horrid, it's an abomination. Wanna speak Danish? Put a potato in your mouth and speak Norwegian.

As someone who speaks Norwegian, which I thought was your case... I mean, how different are the three languages amongst themselves if you speak one of them? Both as a Scandinavian and as an outsider.

I've heard Norwegians say that Swedish is easier to understand than Danish.

And I think Norwegian is much easier than Danish, I've had to deal with some Norwegian customers at work and it went fine. It's funny since they are both so easy to understand in written language.
