wow that was alot of fun i'll try to upload some pics...we say andy dick on a date and i am SO PISSED i didn't say PARTY IN THA HIZHOUSE!
jsm fans will know
Yeah, was a blast... Showed up a little late so myself and VanillaRice unfortunately only caught the last half of Dieselboy's jungle set (which kicked ass), but we were there for all of DJ Dan and all of Tiesto... I was a little disappointed with Tiesto's set (I just wasn't feeling it for the first 4 or 5 songs), but he picked it up after 15-20 minutes with Obession, and after that the afternoon was great. He spun, among others:
-the aforementioned Obsession
-Southern Sun (his older remix with the slightly different lyrics)
-Lethal Industry (which he's spun in EVERY set he's done this year i think ;)
-flight 643
-suburban train
-(somewhat suprisingly) Mauro Picotto - Lizard
-closed with Mindcircus (Gabriel & Dresden mix)
I'm sure I'm missing a ton of big name tunes or screwed up on a couple of the above ID's as well... I wasn't exactly writing a tracklist down or anything :)
I wished he would have spun a little closer to his cream sets... was looking forward to hearing solar coaster and especially the MarcoV or John Flemming rmx of Cafe del mar... oh well ;/
His popularity is getting pretty amazing, especially considering this is the West Coast of the United States in a suburb of Los Angeles... a lot of ppl had Tiesto643 shirts (conviently on sale at the Area2 merchandising booths) or custom made shirts and were getting them signed afterwards by him.
Still though, the tent was never more than half full I don't think, with it being the most packed when Tiesto spun. I don't know how well the main act in the Ampitheatre of Moby/Bowie/Blue Man Group went, but I wouldn't be too suprised if the Area concert next year will be in LA and not here.
Tiesto was up right after Dan, and while I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything, it was interesting to note who was the more technically skilled DJ and who was just more charasmatic (perhaps just by nature or by choice) and good at working the crowd. Anyone who was watching Dan spin will know what I'm talking about.
I'm very glad I went. Had to wait 3 hours in front just to get a good spot up at the guard rail (not that I didn't enjoy watching Avanalches, who are pretty freaking amazing, and DJ Dan), but now I can say that I've been within a few inches of one of the greatest trance producers of all time :) Unfortunately, most big name DJ's (whenever they're in town or in nearby Los Angeles) spin at 21+ clubs, so us 18+'ers who 1) don't look remotely 21+ and 2) Don't have fake id's are usually out of luck... it was a wonderful opportunity and I'm glad I didn't miss it (its not everyday that tiesto spins 10 minutes away from my house!).
And btw... we saw Andy Dick there with TWO chicks, one on each arm... what a player ;>
Another evening highlight was the Blue Man Group randomly entering the tent and dancing during DJ dan's set... very cool
-Daedalus
hehe i bought one of those 643 shirts and some guy called me a poser haha probably thought i just found out about tiesto that same day or osmething...maybe i saw you haha
lol dude you were at teh front too? i probably saw you what do you look like
white/blond hair, wore a plain white shirt and black shorts... which i think described a couple of ppl there . I was up on the guardrail, a few feet to the left of the decks. To my right was VanillaRice, azn, black hair, wearing a white shirt with BLUE shorts, fortunately. If we arrived wearing the same thing I think I would have gone home and changed
What about you?

no, i was just him and I who went... there was a large(r) crew of wasps who were buying shirts, so I think i know who you are talking about though.
