Country -> Map suggestion
Here is an idea...
Some countries have their own TA MAP,
I think it would be nice to link the flags of the countries that have
a map to the map.
tell me what you think
I guess this is very easy to be done... nothing but a "a href" code
yeah great idea mate!!
im not on ne map yet!! lol
no other comments..?
any "official" answer?
all who agree say "I"!!!
I
good idea
Hmmmm it takes a lot to maintain the maps, but it is a good idea if we get every region to do a map
But a lot of people cant be arsed
I've only seen the Greek TA Map and I want to see more. Can you tell me where I can see other ones?
Thank you

That'd be nice. The only problem as far as I can see would be the same one as we've got with the World Map at the moment, where a few of the regional maps seem to either be offline or on bad servers. It might be a bit too much work updating the forum code with the new URL every time maps are changed to a different server. Hosting them on the TA server wouldn't really be an option as they need to be constantly updated by somebody from that country every time somebody new wants to be on it.
I can host all the flag at my server (aweb.gr)

I could help!!
Okey, i have an idea...
It is quite messy if we keep storing all the names in the graph of the map.. I think most of you agree with me on that.
There is a much simpler and efficient solution: we keep just the image of the map (a clean image), and use an "image map". Then, we could easily write the image map (there is some good freeware for that, thought i forgot the name).
The next step would be adding a javascript that will trigger an action when your mouse is over a part of the map that has TA's (like a dot representing a city).
Also we would have the TA's nicks stored in DIV tags: one DIV tag for each city (or dot).
Then, using CSS, you would trigger the DIV hidden or visible.
-------
THIS IS HOW IT WOULD WORK: )(example)
You have a map of Holland. With your mouse you point The Hague. All TA's from the Hague would appear at the bottom of the screen. Then you point Amsterdam. All the TA's from Amsterdam would appear there.
-------
Another map (with another IMG_MAP) would be needed to redirect ppl to the regional (national) maps. You click on Canada and you go to the Canada map.. etc...etc..
So, what do u think? Sorry for being so complicated.. I hope u ppl understand my idea (at least the ones that know something of HTML). It won't be too hard to implement (believe me, it's much easier that it sounds), and the actualizations would be a lot easier!!
EDIT: I've read the other Map threads.. i think they 're great.. good thing the map is working.. but i would still suggest that instead of adding users to the gif file, you would have them appart.. what do u think?
But there is some TA's that doesn't live in big cities, they live in small villages.
That's ok also.. we just need their coordinates and they can be mapped.
Actually the hard part of all this would be defining a standard (a proposed one at least). Like building a template for the webpage and making it available.
The template would include everything except the map (well there should be some webpage with GOOD national maps so maybe we can even get the maps), and all the tags and codes...
Then each manager of national maps would just have to tell the coordinates off ppl and add their names.
Ps: I agree there should be a map modification in order to add the "dot" of each TA's city-town. But at least that option would be a lot more easier to mantain and to read.
