FXpansion Geist (GURU 2) - Teaser Video

Could this be the long-awaited Guru successor???

EDIT: Well, it looks like Geist is indeed the long-awaited GURU 2. See Angus' post in the following GURU 2 thread:

they better have a update/crossover price from the original guru!

I wish they would just do something simple like battery.

I want to sequence, mix and effect my drums in my daw, so all that extra crap just gets in the way. Also, if I wanted to pattern edit I'd use FL studio or my drum machine.

I think they have such a good idea but they just try to pack too much in.

yeah i never use the onboard sequencer. lol. but if geist has some good onboard effects, i might use it along with its sequencer to quickly come up with an effected or obscure drum loop and then bounce it down to a file.

Ableton drum rack > everything else

I use logic with Battery and miss my ableton days sometimes.

drum rack is awesome but for alternatives recent Xfer Records Nerve VSTi prolly times better than GURU/Battery/Drum Rack combined

lol I sometimes use fruity loops in Rewire, just for drums. Maybe do the same for Ableton drum rack..hrmmmm

Oh also I hope they make guru's user interface a little bigger... or make some of the buttons more than a couple pix wide

I personally think battery is too complex. I just wish they'd release a version of battery that was just one cell. So like simpler in ableton but with all of battery's effects like stretching, looping etc... Then it'd play nice with drum rack too...

Guru was the biggest waste of money ever for me. I wish I could sell it for even $50

Also is there a way to delete my tranceaddict account?

I also felt Guru was lame but I wouldn't blame tranceaddict for that.

Posted by DJ Sound on Nov-19-2010 18:40:

Yeah, I also sold Guru a long time ago and TBH Geist doesn't really look like it improved upon Guru very much. It's interesting that FXpansion is not calling Geist an "upgrade" to Guru, but rather a new product (despite all the similarities and overlapping features), and Guru will remain in their lineup with a "crossgrade" to Geist available to Guru owners. Seems silly to me, but what do I know? Between Maschine, Battery 3, Stylus RMX, etc, I'm pretty well set in the drum department so I'll pass on Geist.

Where's the fun in that? I think he should post his login info in this thread and we'll just take turns using his account to post asinine stuff.

I'll take that as a no. Thanks for the help

I honestly don't know the answer. Your best bet is to contact swamper or diginut.

Eh, I use Ableton drum rack, still looks like this could be interesting ^^

Then again, I prefer Battery over the Drum Rack but it keeps dropping audio every 20 mins and I had to dump it >.> Sigh NI.
