LA for the first time on 10/30 - DS @ Avalon?

what's up west coast TA-ers?!

i'm flying out west for halloween weekend. going to be driving out to vegas sunday for SHM at the hard rock.

staying in LA the first 2 nights of the weekend though. we want to go out saturday night (my friends are mostly into house, i do anything). from what ive heard/read, avalon is one of the bigger (in terms of popularity, not size) clubs in LA. is the dirty south party worth checking out? i've seen him live a few times and have been pleased.

will it be a guido fest (i'm from NJ and used to the meatheads at Pacha NYC) or does it have potential?

Avalon will have DirtySouth. I'm pretty sure that with a big act like Dirty South, there will be quite a few douche bags...

I usually hang out in the Honey Room (side room) of Avalon. It's generally where local talent get there opportunity to play. Plastic Love is hosting the room that night. I'll probably be hanging out there too.

Avalon will NO where near be like Pacha NYC.

The few times I have been to Pacha I was shocked by the amount of guidz.

maybe cuz it was morillo but it was a straight up guido fest on saturday... i mean it was beyond meatheads.. im talking orange spray tan..thin plucked eyebrows and even pauly d hair... i think there were more of those guys there that night than washing machines..


its been a while since ive been to avalon so i was thinking it was just an erick morillo thing??

Morillo brings out that crowd. I was there for dubfire and didn't notice any quidz.

I think D/S will bring the guidz, but I don't think as much as Morillo. I know a lot of Jersey heads flew out to see Morillo.

But even on a Morillo night at the Avy, it doesn't even compare to a random night at Pacha. I was there at Pacha night when Victor Calderon played and it was WAYYY worse then Morillo at the Avalon. I have also seen Morillo there, and well you can only imagine lol

haha yep everyone loves victor in new york.
witnessed that first hand at the zoo during labor day when he played that area got so full of guidos.
avalon is nowhere near what pacha is like.

We have a phenomenon called "washing machines" Don't worry, not many guidos will be there.

yeah, morillo in NYC is a disaster. i consider him one of the best DJs but when he spins it's definitely a jersey shore reunion.

since i'm a west coast n0ob - what's a washer/washing machine? are they as lethal as jersey guidz? (what's their kryptonite?)

since most of the parties i see on the board are in san diego, looks like we'll be hitting up avalon. i guess if i can survive pacha nyc i can survive anything..

old mainly chinese people who shake back and forth like a washing machine.. they normally wear sunglasses and get hella fucked up,.like no shame fucked up.. and when i mean old.. i mean as old are your grandparents..

they usually are on the main dancefloor .. they dont cause no real trouble but if its get crowded.. u might get whipped by one of the female's hair in ur face.. or pushed a little if they get too outta control and can't really stand.. normally a good push/shove will move them away...

hahahaha, I didn't know what a washer was either until now!

We had them in Atlanta, too. Same thing, old asian people that are really fucked up, flailing around. They were at every single major DJ night, and were ALWAYS up at the front. I don't think they ever left the dance floor. :P

From the streets. They bring them with them. And in the late hours they just get stuck getting taxed at the prices inside.

I don't even know how many times I have been asked for e at 6am lol. The look of dissapointment when I say no and I dont know anyone that does is always priceless!

We have "washers" in NYC too, but I wasn't aware this was the new term coined for them.

Yup I will be in Vegas, I'm still considered a west coast noob, but at least we don't have guidos out here like in NYC.

there is no breathing room at Avalon, both patios are mad second hand smoke, so prepare to stand up all night, oh and it smells like feet in certain spots. Place also attracts the douchers, especially the hairy ones. :P

However, their sound system is bad ass, and if you are single, there will be women.
