Who believes in...

Time Travel? Why or why not? Explain.

What are your thoughts on it?

I believe in it, but I think its the one thing we shouldn't tamper with.

No there is no possible way this can be done....

i believe in it but not at this time. in like 300-500 years i think it is reality with time laws that we have to follow in order to maintain the correct timeline. or else we would be in the wrong place in the wrong time with the wrong emeny/friends. i also believe we are being watch or observe by someone in the future now.

well, its possible i think, but i wouldnt want any part in it. in fact, i plan to write my extended essay on this topic. itll be damn scary if someone did travel though time though!

I belive it will one day be possible, today we can do stuff unimaganable and crazy to think about under 100 years ago (talking about spaceships would get you lauged at) One day it will be done, I just hope Im dead before it happens

i don't believe in time travel that much but i have believed for a long time in the type of idea portrayed in Jet Li's The One

My friend was saying if you get caught in a black hole you travel in time because of some stuff. I can't remember exactly how it works but it was some astronomers idea or some shit like that

It's techniaclly already been done. I read about it in physics class. Some profs were able to send light through a substance so fast that it exited the solution "before" they shot it. I will try to find the article online.

no... I think it is and will be impossible

would be nice though.. I've got a couple of things to settle right

after that I go back 20 years in time and buy myself a nice amount of microsoft stocks , come back, sell them.. go back (and on and ond )

I think it would be cool if Time Travel did exist and it was only me who got to travel through it. hahahahaha

then I'd be fucked lol. Seriously though I do think it will one day be possible, however when it is some gay ass looking to make some quick cash will do something stupid, and not consider the implications of it. I.e if you go into the past and change something you dont know what kind of reaction it will cause, and how our world will be different. The possibility of it are scary

Assuming there's such a thing as contineous linear time, timetravel most certainly exists (e.g. go to sleep and you wake up some hours into the future), but if reality is really just a bunch parallel universes/moments in which we believe there has been a past (something along what is prescribed by quantum theory), then I cannot see how it would be possible: if you materialized in some other moment/universe you would necessarily already be there as moments - per definition - are indivisable and thus cannot change "while" they happen.

Maybe this is not a very well written post but I experience tell me that the more I elaborate on this subect the less people seem to understand me

Btw. if you would like to read some fascinating thought on the paradoxes of timetravel, I suggests you read "The Fabric of Reality" by David Deutsch.

If time travel is possible, why hasn't anyone come back from the future to end this debate once and for all. Thats what I'd do.

there will never be time travel in the way most people see it. like being able to go back in time measurable by years and view the past.

this website explains the effect of time dilation which is the only way (according to current physics) to go back in time slightly.

also, when astronauts come back from space, they are actually I think a few seconds out of sync with the rest of us.

it's possible and I think human being will be able to travel a lot through the time...

But I guess we'll have to wait until we reach the light speed(maybe 1000 years)

Hrmm.. Put it this way.. You need a certain amount of energy to travel.. collecting more energy pushes you back in time further.. but you can only travel back as far as you started to collect this energy.. ho-hum.. Theoretically it might be possible to "time travel". But physically I say it would be impossible. If something can be accelerated at the speed of light, then the perception would be that time is standing still. because the person/object does not see any movement what so ever. It would be as if time froze. Travelling faster than the speed of light would permit the perception of going back in time because everything would be seen as occuring in reverse order. But to physically alter something by this method would be impossible, because all we'd be seeing are beams of light.

Anyway... I think i'm crapping on... Whoever said the more u explain the more confusing it gets was right.

Mine's a theory. But I still believe it's impossible to travel through time.
