So I pretty much had my identity stolen. My yahoo, and gmail accounts were hacked and then my PayPal account. They changed all my passwords so I couldn't log on. Then, they changed the email off my PayPal account and authenticated it with my social security number. They took $500 from my checking account into PayPal, luckily PayPal seen something was fishy and suspended my account. I recovered my email address's and they blocked all emails from [email protected], crafty ******s!
I noticed on my gmail at the bottom you can view recent activity on the account. Low and behold on the 16th when all my shit was taken over we have United Kingdom (109.123.99.55). Are there any programs you guys know of where I could get info from IP address's? Maybe some computer savvy guys know how to get info like the guys do on 4chan? lol

that ip is worthless to you (considering the person who did this to you obviously has skill he wouldn't have used his real IP) I can almost guarantee it's some sort of proxy service or bouncer
that's pretty shitty though i can't imagine how much dick that sucks good luck man.
sounds like your secret question was guessed / your shit was socialed
edit: all you can really do is lookup who the provider is and rough location, but that's as far it will go without getting the law involved an isp won't give up the details for who was using / who owns that ip.
sorry m8

i would call around to anything thats tied to your email accounts. have them just check over things and make them put a note on the account your dealing with someone trying to hijack.
what he probably did was get into your email 1st, did some searches to see what you're signed up to and then from there just did forgot password / username on all your sites. start with the most valuable stuff (banking if you do it online hit them up)
switch passwords (pain in the ass i know) and just change secret questions to garbage text and you'll be alright.
edit: before you change any passwords or anything on your computer do a scan for anything, use malware antibytes and nod32. run any AV tool you can just in case

i wouldn't give the crook too much credit. once he figures out your email password then he has access to all your emails which will most likely include info about your other accounts and if they use the same password then thats all there is to it. if not he can then send a request to paypal that he can't remember the password which they will send a new one to your email which he has access to.

Yeah did all that. Even had to change my bank account #'s. The guy I talked to on PayPal was like they had your account number and social security number, that's scary. I was like no shit!
Now, I cant log onto PayPal without getting a random pin text to my phone, which is an awesome feature!

Youre a fair age and you seem very healthy. Do you drink? and what have been you past drug habits?

so long as he cut the bottom of the pockets out to ensure that there's no pocket visibility.
@ chris- call your bank and file a fraud report, they'll reimburse you.

So how did they hack your account? Did you just have an easy password, go to a dodgy internet cafe? Steal your computer?

How did they get your SIN?
paypal will log all account activity, but if they hacked all your shit then chances are they bounced through korea or something. For some reason a lot of attacks originate there or travel through there - atleast they did 10 years ago.
There are tons of IP tracking programs out there but you'll be wasting your time with an experienced hacker who probably has zombies and mirror boxes.
The best thing to do is format your computer (or get a new one if your firmware is compramised. Also purge your routers etc.., and install a non MS OS or install download all patches and install before going online) and contact law enforcement such as the FBI cyber crimes or go to your local FBI office cause they are probably backlogged bigtime at the FBI.
Also disconnect your banking.
It usually takes a couple days to clear a transfer --- so contact the bank.
Also if it was transfered through paypal, all the funds spending can be reversed and everything is logged. Call paypal - you will likely get put on hold for 30 minutes or something but that is that.
Also contact to see about notifying the government of the identity theft - I'm not sure if they actually can change SIN but it is worth a try.
I was into security stuff about 5 to 10 years ago.
There are always risks when using anyones software, be it your os or anything you use on your computer.
This is why I recommend the death penalty for cracking. To set a precedence. Getting your system hacked may just be a joke for some kiddies etc.. but it can honestl hurt a lot when you have data loss or need to spend hours correcting the malicious changes to your system.
There are victimless crimes and victim crimes, and data destruction and compramising individuals operating information (personal ids) or messing around with their finances by theft or otherwise is uncalled for - I myself may have been the victim of this previously also. So I can identify with you - but it was for I think about 1000$ but I could be mistaken.

It actually isn't
I've had extreme anguish that crushed large chunks of my humanity - and I loved that person, now I have an under skin of a sadist thanks to those assholes.
It isn't the money or data, it is the victimization.
Posted by w_ashley on Oct-22-2010 09:28:
I'm not aware of how to change our SSN but you can change your name I think.
It appears you can..
The Social Security Administration permits you to request a change of your social security number for two reasons: (1) Victim of Identity Theft or (2) Victim of Domestic Violence
Read more: How to Change your Social Security Number & Get a New Credit File LEGALLY! | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_4482314_number-new-credit-file-legally.html#ixzz134vPw2v7
You can also just go to start type command promt
then type
netstat /a
it will give you a list of all IP's
including website you connect to.. but if you run any other programs or a server it will show their list
both MACs (the machine codes of modems etc..) and IP's can be spoofed... you can however trace through the infrastructure (if they arn't compramised) to get a location of the origin of the connection, then through tracing IP's trace it to a box etc.. however someone can redirect through a compramized system.
and so on multiple times. Also there are some methods of safeguarding traces.
There are higher level "packet" sniffing programs.. that trace all data and attempted connections also - these are more useful programs for security. Also your routers, and network providers all play a role.
You could contact your ISP and request a log of all traffic to your node.
But they may require a police warrant to really care.

My PayPal PW was intense. They said they got through my email which was really simple. I created that email 8 years ago and never changed the password. It was trance Hey, I was 16...lol I just never got around to changing it.
Thanks for the info, Will, I think.
I'm good on my computer/internet security, always have been, which is why all this puzzles me. My email was the only weak spot and I've had it so long I never thought to beef up my PW.

This.
I never do harm to anyone. Why fucking me? I sponsor a child in the Philippines for gods sake. Buddy on facebook said it sounds like karma because I also broke my finger, and my bird died. I did nothing to bring this shit on.
Although today I yelled at PayPal customer service cause something looked fishy with my buyer credit. I could hardly understand her which annoyed me, then she was telling me shit that didn't make sense about my account and I'm trying to tell her and she interrupts me. She said PESOS and I snapped ARE WE TALKING ABOUT PESOS OR DOLLARS LET ME SPEAK TO A FUCKING AMERICAN! She transferred me. That's the third time calling PayPal where I've gotten shit service this week. No doubt about it I tell the guys about this crap that are actually helping me. They apologize but it's still fucked up, especially when fraud is involved.
That's bullshit. If I'm calling a united states number I don't want to speak to someone overseas with broken English.
I'm thinking of canceling my account but is so damn convenient.
