Experiences of djshop.de, web-records.com, hmv.co.uk

I was wondering if anybody's had any experiences of these three online record stores, because I'm going to order some vinyls from them. They have an absolutely incredible range, but somehow I don't think that everything they have is truly in stock. Has anyone used any of these sites before?

Also, if anybody knows where I can pick up Armin - Communication on 12", I'd be a very happy person.

I've been to them all.
Web-records.com list more items than they have and only takes Mastercard which never worked out..
Djshop.de I've problem understanding them... placed 2 orders with them but never got them...luckily i haven't been charged though.
hmv works out best for me. I like it with the fact that i get 25% discount from them and also i've only got to pay 10 quids for p&p and i can place unlimited orders for couple of months.. although some vinyls never got through...
If there are items you desperately want i'd suggest going for the top sites like juno and chemicalrecords...never had a problem with them.

Armin - communication is available from replayrecords. I paid 10 quids for my copy from them but the condition was terrible.

Ive only used HMV out of the three listed. I have to say I was expecting a very slow delivery, however they proved my scepticism wrong and delivered very quickly indeed. I ordered a CD and it came in 1st class condition. The only thing to look out for is on some products they have an average delivery time. Try to stick to items with low delivery times. Also, as I live in the UK I dont know what their international service is like. Sorry.

I thought web-records.com and djshop.de looked too goo to be true! Thanx for the advice, I think I'll try hmv.co.uk. They've got some older anthems like William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for Strings and System F - Out of the blue etc etc that I'd like to pick up.

Narcissus, may I ask how you got a 25% discount at HMV?

I've ordered 3 records from Distinctive 3 weeks or so ago. How long should I wait before I do something and what do I do if It doesn't come? I ordered records from htfr on the same day and they came within a week, and I'm starting to get a bit anxious.

djshop.de - Never ordered from them, so can't comment.

web-records.com - Ordered from them once, the order took over 3 months to fill and ship. I think they finally shipped my order to stop the flood of e-mails I was sending them daily! Stay away.

hmv.co.uk - Slow, but reliable. Shipping isn't the fastest to USA, but they are cheap and they can usually get what you want in stock. Watch out for backorder titles that say "10 days" or more, they may take longer than 10 days to get in stock & there's no guarantee they can get them (although the odds are pretty good). Also, they will part-ship orders of > 1 record if one of the records you ordered is not in stock within 10 days. This means you will pay shipping more than once.

Personally, I've had really good service with ReplayRecords.com They have a good back catalog and usually ship your order same day.

Also, Juno.co.uk and www.dotvinyl.com ship superfast 2 days to USA, but shipping is a bit more costly.

Hope this helps.

TBA, it couldn't hurt to send an e-mail to Distinctive to check the ship date. Maybe they didn't ship it right away. Also, it's possible that htfr uses a faster shipping method. Not all online stores ship the at the same speed.

I use web-records a lot...
The have loaaaads of stuff at low price.
The only drawback is that it takes about 2 months to find your stuff and send it to you... Anyway it's still my fav shop if I am not in hurry for an item

i've ordered from djshop.de quite a few times before...there's a green/yellow/blue dot next to the releasedate; if the dot is green they have it in stock for sure...but they make sure they don't send you crap so if the vinyl has a scratch they won't sell it, but they will try to get the vinyl for you from somewhere else for the same price...that's why you sometimes don't get the vinyl even if it's in stock

Well, they give out 10% discount for students and 15% as VAT refunds.

Yah I knew they didn't include the VAT on international orders, but I didn't know they gave discount to students. Thanx heaps for telling me that!

Have you had any experience ordering yellow or blue dot vinyls from djshop? I was just wondering how long I can expect to wait if I order some stuff from then. Thanx.
