Hear Song Here

I change the link where it DOES NOT autoplay, sorry about that!

I am totally new to this forum so if I am doing anything wrong please pm me and let me know. I read all the rules before I started on here and tried to make sure I am posting this in the right place.

Nice to find this place though!

Epic idea for a album I want to see a movie to go along with this lol

Okay, first of all - please lose the autoplay feature. There is nothing more annoying in this world than a website that automatically starts blasting music on full volume.

You've got pretty nice melodies but everything else seems to need a bit of work. The drum samples used are mediocre at best and the piano samples sound pretty fake and really harsh on the ears. The bassline is much too boomy and nearly kills my speakers when it hits that one higher note.

Also, while the toddler sounds can be a nice touch they are completely out of sync with the rest of the track and just sound very glued-on in general.

I think you should get a SoundCloud page (and I'm trying to say that in the nicest way possible).

Thanks for the feedback you all. I totally remixed this and think it is much better now. The vocals are supposed to sound like that. I have other songs with vocals done "correctly", it is not that I do now know how to do it

Why soundcloud and why say it nice? lol

It sounds like a casio keyboard someone left on in a Mall. You can do a lot better - take wayyyyyy more care in sound choices.

lol thanks for sharing

you do realize it's a kids song right?

Posted by Nemesis44 on Nov-02-2010 10:30:

I am guessing that the child in question is dear to you? The reason I say this is that my main inspiration for me to do what I do is my daughter so would understand completely.

I understand the concept and what you are trying to convey and the idea is nice. You have a nice melody, although I feel that it might benefit from a few lower chords to support it a little.

The percussion has a retro drum machine feel about it which isnt a bad thing, but the programming is a little too busy in my opinion for this type of track.

I understand what Mr.Mystery is saying about the vocal sample, as it is out of time, but out of time can work if done right. The other problem it has is the sonic space that it occupies, as with all of the components, they dont seem to share the same space and you may benefit from routing all of the elements that need special effects to the same busses rather than using individual. One way of perhaps bringing an out of time vocal track other than time stretching or changing the tempo of the track is to apply a delay effect that is in time. This could generate some interesting results. It could also make it gel a little better with the track.

The piano lead has some nice changes to it and definitely gives an emotional feel to the track, but as I said earlier I think it would benefit from some lower chords, you may also want to start the track in a lower octave and perhaps build to the higher stuff which would give you some progression in terms of melody otherwise it just becomes a case of adding and removing content. If you imagine it like a conversation, you start by making your opening statement, but by the time the track ends you are restating your point but with much more vigour.

Thanks for sharing and look forward to hear more.
Cheers
Nem

Hey you removed those ALT postings of yours!! I was mean because of those and I was just playing along.

No I didn't realise it's a kids song, sorry mate. I thought this was intended as a piece of serious EDM, plus I saw you admiting to the ALTS, so.......

What is an ALT posting and when did I remove it?

well it IS A kids song so it is supposed to sound simple and also the first sound you didn't like was a suitcase organ so not sure how you would expect it to sound. But anyhow that organ sound worked well for a "kids" song imo. It is also supposed to be a "serious" piece to be enjoyed by everyone.

Thanks for the ideas Nemesis44! Nothing is finished until it is on the CD.

Dancing Dude

Ok went back to this AGAIN. Upped the bass + eqd, eqd the and added a phattening compressor to the drums. Took the whole file into soundforge and cut a tad of bass, compressed a tad to make it "gel" and wallah!!

lol, i remembered robert miles first album at the first piano note...

its a great track imo, great sound selection on the synths and piano, but i would improve the drums, specially the kick, something more punchy... the snare too...

the delay imo its not so well synchronized, maybe it was on purpose...

well, enjoyable track, i love tracks with children sounds...
