Have you got an iPod shuffle? Good, I'd like to make you a few questions...
- How can you find a specific file in your iPod? Is it even possible?
- Is it fragile?
I've never seen and iPod shuffle in my life, but Sony's given me so much headache I think it's time to make a switch. I'm looking for an mp3 player that has built-in batteries, can play files sequentially (I know that, despite the name, the iPod shuffle can do it), allows me to browse directories easily and, of course, is as cheap as possible... I imagine an iPod shuffle could be the player I'm looking for.
Any ideas?
ps.: I don't really have many models to choose from. I wanted an RCA Lyra but they're not available where I live

I know, that's why I want one, but they're not sold in Brazil. I could import a player from the US, but if it breaks down the hassle to mail it back is not worth it

Waaaah waaaaah waaaaaah, stop being a girl. mp3 players don't break every other week. Except iPods, they do that.
The awesomeness of a player named after you stands above lame considerations about repair, price, features or shit like that. DO IT!

Well, the Philips GoGear thingy I use pretty much works exactly like you described in the OP. It's never ran out of battery for me yet mid-listen, it's small yet the display is clear and it's easy to browse with. It's only 4GB but that's never been a problem for me as I only use it when I go jogging or gym. Fairly cheap too IIRC. And the main upside is it's not an Apple product

Sony mp3 Walkmans do, hence why I don't want them any more.
And, according to the reviews I read on Amazon, Lyras aren't exactly rock-solid either

I'll look into it, thanks.
By the way, how light are they? Isn't it awkward to jog with an mp4 player?

It's very light and tiny. Then again it is a couple of years old, I don't know how the newer models are.

I'm looking for something smaller. It's not like I'm going to watch videos or anything, but I'm going to keep your recommendation in mind

I'm not sure we're talking about the same product - mine's just a tiny MP3 player.

Weird... they only sell mp4 players here, and I assumed you had one of these:

Heh...

don't get anything from apple. it will install a shitload of stuff on your computer. stuff like ituneshelper.exe, mdnsresponder.exe +++ oh and dont forget that you can't copy your songs to other machines unless you use third-party software, and even then, it's bound to fuck up your ipod sooner or later. dont do it! just whistle instead. that's what i do.

No and no.
Random play..but very sturdy and cool-looking little players. Good for workouts or casual listening..not if you want to hear a specific album/track.

I am also a Philips user and I am more than satisfied with their product.
