Maybe this is why Tiesto quit Trance

In my opinion, tiesto fans are the lowest beings on earth. That species truly believes Tiesto is a god on earth. Try to check one of their videos alla "Tiesto best tracks", then you listen and realize there isn't even a single track by tiesto. All is Yahel, Push etc...

And if you point out: "hey, these track are not tiesto's" everybody jump on you "heeeey, he is god of trance", "he is lord of trance", "he invented trance".

Seriously how can you even debate with such "people"?

Posted by Chimney on Oct-31-2010 10:51:

Either that or he realized that Armin had all control over the word "trance" and he couldn't be in that game anymore.

Posted by Rodri Santos on Oct-31-2010 14:04:

But it's true, half of the people think that tiesto made nearly all the old trance when he only played it on a show, happens a bit with armin too.

I see comments like "Armin van buuren is god" and the track is not by him... even if the title is Darude - Sandstorm (Original Mix) people feel that he made additions and that he was spinning the track live, there's still a lot of inculture about what's the dj job.

This benefits a lot tiesto, armin, guetta... because they have a large audience who doesn't need effor to be tricked, they are tricked by themselves...

here are some quotation by Tiesto:

"The biggest thing to happen for me this year is my change in style. I play more eclectic, much more house-driven, and like, indie pop music. The whole trance part is deleted from my set now. It is completely gone. It was a revolutionary thing for me."

"I just didn't like the old trancey sounds anymore," he continues. "It just all started to sound the same to me.

Maybe, just maybe, he's just getting old...

or growing up and wants to change his style

I quite agree with the chap.

If he enjoyed changing his style, then good on him! He seems to be doing ok with it anyway...

I wish more people followed their instincts rather than the scene.

I agree with all this. There must be some really stupid people if they think the DJ makes ALL the tracks he plays!

If that's the target audience then its no wonder they are number 1 in that stupid poll. Making cheesy pop tunes so people who are not really into dance music suddenly start going to their gigs but have no idea about DJs. Money making exercise.

This is something we just have to accept. It's like everything in life - it is not always fair.

Ignorance is bliss - as they say!

Very true...it's jus annoying when people tell you that so and so is the greatest ever when its just pop music they are making.

I went to see Tiesto in London in July and left early, it was not good. Lots of pop then lots of horrible horrible electro. Compare that to some of the gigs he has done say 5 or 6 years ago, I think he is bullshitting when he says he doesn't lik the trance sound anymore. He is just targetting a diff audience now and cashing in even more.

As frustrating it is to you, me and many others though, there are more people that do seem to like his new style than people who do not like it.

I think people should leave him be, like they leave 50 cent and other artists they like, alone.

As frustrating as it is, he has made a choice and prospered from it. Given the chance, wouldn't many of us choose to do the same thing? I think that the answer is that some would, some wouldn't.

My only real view point is that no one person is bigger than the scene. Just because Tiesto has decided to move away from trance, it doesn't mean that there is a big tiesto shaped gap left. The scene is so saturated these days that there is at least some quality and thoughtful music out there despite having to traul through the mountains of turd that they lie beneath!

Agree with everything said again.

The problem with this thinking is that Electro-House is what's "in" right now. There's a chance that Tiesto is legitimately more interested in a more of a House sound, but there's also a good chance that that's just where the money is.

Posted by Rodri Santos on Nov-06-2010 11:40:

besides he likes electro house or not i think the edm scene is turning to a mixture of house & trance, Lady Gaga , Kylie Minogue and more pop artists sound now trancey. Ironically i find that Tisto has the sound most up to date, trance & electro house driving along.

Still if he thinks trance is dead on him...

-Trance* bassline
-Dreamy vocals perfect for unicorn trance
-And @3:15 or so.. Dutch Supersaw style lead!

*According to what trance is called now

Posted by xCTx on Nov-06-2010 19:25:

Tiesto's Club Life 187 (last weeks show) was primarily trance. If he "moved" on from it, I know he wouldn't be dropping it in his radio shows. I know he still got love for it. He's just moving in a new direction yet he still seems to carry trance elements into his sets too. People are trippin

I fail to see how this is anything but Euro Pop/Dance Pop.

It's a bit weird to me that a guy who mixed these:

.. is now making tracks with Nelly Furtado and Three6Mafia and playing gay-electro trash. I simply don't get it. At all.

mainstream trance is almost pop, check AvB singles to catch an idea.

I feel the same way about Paul van Dyk. He made such excellent music in the 90's. Except he's not going to the electro route, he just sucks.

Posted by BlueSky on Nov-07-2010 06:26:

If we compare todays Tiesto and todays Paul van Dyk, I'd chose the second. Ur right - his sets and his music are not spectacular as his late 90's/early 00's era, but sometimes he makes some decent ones (Live at Club Space Miami at WMC this year). Way better than Tiesto.

Posted by samblackhole on Nov-17-2010 14:36:

The thing is, that imho, when I hear "Tiesto", I belive it would be something like Tiesto some years ago. That isn't the case, unfortunately. Same for AvB and PvD, but not that bad.
Look, Tiesto hast been at the LoveParade 2006 and than he hasn't been invited anymore, after McFit bought it. Now, after his style change, he was good enough for it in 2010. I didn't see his gig, as I knew that his new style sucks. But I've been to that LoveParade: Which sucked too.
But seriously, if he wants to change the style, he should change his name, too, as he did it for tracks with other producers (Gouryella, Alibi)
Tiesto stands for trance. It breaks my heart, when I see what is happening with this name now.
