Question about digweed's livesets
I just got a hold of Digweed's 2010 Essential Mix and was wondering if this is representative of what he spins at shows now, at least bigger scale ones. I liked the set quite a bit and he will be in LA for NYE so I am debating whether its worth it (saw him 2-3 yrs ago for NYE doing a tag team set w/ Sasha and while I liked digweed other times i've seen him, that set bored me). The EM had decent energy in the tracks, so long as he doesnt pound away with the majority of bedrock releases at the moment he is quite fun.
i havent heard the EM (although i've enjoyed all of his previous ones) but I saw him this summer in Bulgaria and to be honest I was underwhelmed. he's technically flawless...seemless transitions, great flow but the tracks are very 1 dimensional. it wasn't until the last hour or so that he got interesting.
I'm not sure what to tell you, I'd suggest to check him out and see for yourself but just don't expect fireworks if you're a fan of the old stuff.
Very similar, yes. RapidFire is spot on as well.
I saw him a couple weeks ago and had a blast. It wasn't anything like what he used to play, but the mixing and flow were perfect. Not exactly what I'd normally listen to, but definitely fun to dance to.
If I could go to the NYE show I would.
I've seen John a few times this year and from what I've seen, I can say that his essential mix is good benchmark for what he's currently playing.
As mentioned above, his transitions and progression are simply brilliant (still), But you shouldn't expect the Digweed from a few years ago.
If you go, I say it will still be a NYE to remember, just go for it.
also rumors that Sasha whose playing another event in LA will end up joining him up there
