Surgeon live set and does anyone know any good techno podcasts
I couldn't find the proper techno thread that was on here ages ago, and I thought this set deserved its own hype anyway.
I was lucky enough to see Surgeon live last saturday here in Sydney, and it frankly destroyed my brain
Seriously some of the best music I've heard in an age, and I go out every weekend, often 2-3 times. It was the first music I'd heard in ages that made me think there might be something to this dance music thing still, so I thought I'd post it up here for your enjoyment, so that the gospel of techno can be spread to all and sundry amen.

Does anyone have anthing similar to this thats been released recently? I've been looking for a good Techno podcast for a while in particular. I've come across the CLR one, but its not quite raw enough for me.
did you pick up Fabric 53 yet?
check out christain arango podcast - pretty entertaining.
The Chris Liebing CLR podcast perhaps?
I quite like bas mooy as well as surgeon, he does some nice live sets.
^^^ Wow, just downloaded a set and phwoar! Very similar to surgeon indeed. Maybe not quite as industrial but definately on the right track for what I want.

Check some mixes by Inigo Kennedy
or some of this http://www.exium-music.com
Suffice to say haven't heard of many techno artists either so I'm also quite interested in results in this thread. Also, well if you like bas mooy then maybe check out the other guys on audio assault
Jeroen Liebrichts
Exium
and Go Hiyama
Woo York also have some podcasts and/or sets to download here:

Oh and I 2nd the Blind Spot tip a few posts up
Some good results coming out of this thread.
I've just run across some AWESOME labels having gone through Bas Mooly's back catalogue. Planet Rhythm have some devastating stuff
I think you should check out some Adam Beyer as well especially if you found Chris Liebig to be a little light. Not sure if Adam has a podcast but he does have some radio show online, can find some stuff on soundcloud as well. -

| Originally posted by Teezdalien Haha, so called funky techno. I'm completely at a loss as to how they coined that term 'funky techno' as a name for this sub-genre. There's absolutely jack shit funk to it really. I do like some of it though and it's not to say it's all bad music or anything. |

I could be writing you lists all day, but I have work.
Ah yes, got to 2nd Grovskopa. Got noticed by Surgeon early in his career so the style is similar. Also, he's from my home town and a nice kid so...

Oscar Mulero Is another absolute must. Dark, yet tribally off beaty and often aggressive.
CV is Dead, one of my favourties....
Proper DJ. Acutally uses his equipment.

I've got a mad set from Marco Corolla from like 2002 thats just ball tearing the whole way. Also has Sven Vath and speedy J, Pascal FEOS and a couple of others.
I don't have a download link but its Cocoon Club Hafentunnel Phase 2 I think. Really worth checking out for awesome old techno.
Sad to see how they've all gotten slower and softer as time's gone on though, especially Beyer who used to be so good. Thats sort of why I started this thread, to check up on who was still banging it out since I couldn't find many of the artists that I knew from old sets still doing this kind of thing
Jeebus, can't believe I almost forgot my mate Trevor's Bleep Radio podcast: Fun In The Murky - Bleep Radio
He's playing the 2 a.m. - 4 a.m. slot at our next party.
