LA Coliseum ends rave ban 4 months after teen dies
LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission has overturned a moratorium on raves at the venue that was put in place in June after a 15-year-old girl overdosed on ecstasy and died.
The Los Angeles Times says the commission made the surprise move Wednesday.
Coliseum General Manager Pat Lynch said the commission was satisfied after receiving reports on increased medical staffing, age restrictions and time limits on raves held there in August and October that were scheduled before the moratorium.
Commission member and rave opponent Rick Caruso - who had to miss the meeting - said he was shocked at the move.
Fifteen-year-old Sasha Rodriguez overdosed on ecstasy and collapsed at a huge Coliseum rave known as the Electric Daisy Carnival. She later died at a hospital.

money talks, why would anyone be surprised?
We all knew it was going to happen, they make so much money off of insomniac for every event.
also didnt insomniac bring a lawsuit against the city of la?
timing is pretty expected. Right after the elections
Finally someone comes to their senses
I think we all knew it would all be lifted right after the election so as long as nothing happened at MM. Sure things will have to stay 18+ if they want the permits, which is good.
interesting read here --> http://www.latimes.com/media/acroba...11/57355196.pdf
that's the set of rules and recommendations imposed on future rave events there...

Hey, they event recommend DUI checkpoints at the exits, and say worry about the checkpoint more than people getting home in a timely fashion.
Interesting.

So if you're high you get a free ride home.
"Provide safe transportation for attendees removed from the venue due to
possession of illegal identification, and substance use and intoxication.iii "

Haha... Imagine your favorite DJ is playing, you're peaking and you're in your ultimate euphoria. Than all of the sudden you hear.....
"BIIIIING... Attention K-Mart Shoppers... For your safety, we'd like to remind you that ecstasy is evil and can fuck up with your brain. This has been a public service announcement brought to you by LA County Department of Health in conjunction with the LAPD & Insomniac."
"Establish conditions and a plan where the promoter in conjunction with public
safety and medical personnel can announce or play pre-recorded messages on
safety or health issues to the attendees."

Those are some good guidelines, lets just make sure that they actually follow through with them. Like I said in the past, it was very evident Go Ventures was following them during Monster Massive which made MM very enjoyable.
They need to bring back Dance Safe. I liked what they did a lot. They actually tried to help you instead of getting you in trouble.
food for thought:
what if we had something like an EDM Event Commision or something like that.
Making sure that all EDM events were up to par or standards rather then a city council that had no clue what the music was all about.
just thinking out loud
Nocturnal and MM were my first two massives, and I had a blast at each of them. I didn't experience any of the EDC problems people spoke of.
In other words, these rules are good thing, so it's nice they're sticking around. Only one I don't like is ending at 2am, but oh well. To be honest, almost all of these rules were already in place at Noc and MM.
