looking for a tune with long build up as reference

I'm currently working on a project , that it's riff is so fierce and powerful that i kinda extended the buildup from the 2nd break , now i have this huge energy that kind of get out control for me so i'm looking for a reference track that has somewhat long build up . my project is about 130bpm if this limits my search ... th

Any scot project tune from 2000 to 2003. He pretty much invented the super break and build since pretty much every tune from that era was the main tune of everyone's set.

from 4 minutes to 6 and that is rather conservative for him at that era.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1abm6UbRPY

Here is another scot project classic build actually the last really hard trance epic tune he did. He stopped doing the melodic stuff after that one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owhp...feature=related

Starts at 3:30 ish. Also has many parts from earlier that become part of the build. I think this one has 3 different sections. Rather nutty.

JK walker did a scort project rip that is pretty good too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1-LydDdirU

not quite as long but they both have multiple sections in the breakdown and do the super build to perfection.

If you want someone that took it just a little too far. Check out this Dark by design tune.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWdSM7AeBjY

Think it starts at like 3 minutes and comes back at 6. NEver was a fan of the uk hardtrance. By the end you are just kinda like ok , we get it. That is the most drawn out build I can think of. Not to mention the tune is at 145 ish. That is a long time to be biting your cheek.

the jk walker tune fits more to what i'm looking for , actually it gave me some ideas , repeat some part of the riff , unfold the whole melody , repeat one part again , some beats , hats , shakers ... and boom

I added a link, check out the other scot project tune I added. It basically goes to a part where you think it is the main drop but then it goes back to the main melody. This was at the time that people stopped doing main melody drops and it is quite clever how he reintroduces the melody.

also one of my own has a rather sick german styled build with the wall of snare builds and all the bells and whistles of 2003. The break starts at 3:30

Jonesy - Independance (stadium mix) (Paul van Dyk rework)

Only the most epic build ever.

that 1st drop is epic , specially when he adds the bass for brief second , it's like mind tricks .

yeah , paul hammered it over and over endlessly , but yeah it's good reference

and the fm synthesis while the melody is playing which then goes back to the melody. Most clever build ever.

i listened to terminal back then when you posted it in the contest thread ,i told you i liked it didn't i !

anyway yeah , that's a long ass build up ,you use passages of the main melody to create tension, very useful too

Jonesy - Independance has a constant build from 4:05 to 5:26. I remember this being played in clubs, it was nuts!

(oops, I didn't notice that other people had already mentioned it. It's always the first song I think of when I think of "insane buildup". I'll have to use it as inspiration one day)

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Nov-06-2010 00:08:

that build just has snares and the same melody. I guess you had to of been there high because that is one lame build. Typical UK rubush. The germans knew how to do a proper build.

aaaaahhhhhhhhhhh

if i remember correctly AVB - shivers (alex morph red light dub)
i think thats the version where the breakdown gives armin enough time to stand up on his decks and be awesome

Yes, it's not particularly different or creative. But it went absolutely nuts every single time I was in a club and it was played. Not imaginative, but incredibly effective.

There's different music for different people - I don't get into Country and Western, but I absolutely love that other people get a heap of enjoyment out of it. Same for cheesy pop. I may be able to pick it apart, but what's the point? I'm not going to argue individually with the massive number of people who love it. I'd spend my whole life complaining about why people don't think the same as me. I have better things to do with my time!

This 1 is better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfIPt5Ai5P0&feature=fvw infact the full set is amazing!!

And the best Scot Project tune ever >> Here

if you are gonna go oldschool , then his mix of thunder in paradise is the most bad ass track ever made. WHen that came out, people went nuts. It was just so much more bad ass than any other dance music at the time. It made everything else seem like adult contemporary. Fire wire also has the best intro but you need to mix it before the breakdown as it kinda sucks.

Posted by Andy28 on Nov-06-2010 09:58:

His mix of thunder in paradise is alright like, didnt think much of the firewire remix tbh but thats just me.

The first time I heard overdrive was when I seen him at a crasher or godskitchen event. When he dropped that bassline in everyone went mental and I remember thinking this is fucking awesome. At that time had never heard such a pounding track.

I miss those days
