which one do you prefer..? any comments-suggestions?

Posted by Lanithium on Jul-31-2002 10:21:

you have alot of time on you hands dont you? :P

hehe

they look good, but i wouldnt like my speakers down at my feet.. plus i wouldnt have them on the top one as they'd be sitting on the table bottom causing vibrations yeah?

i prefer to have my speakers infront/side of me at around shoulder level...

but yeah they look good.. :P

Posted by Andrew K on Jul-31-2002 10:48:

actually I am gonna have the speakers there for a short period of time... later I am gonna move the whole table in my studio, so this won't be a prob Then I will use this space for my vinyl bags...

and about the time...
I will order them, not make them
They are cheaper than I though (total cost about 100euros)

Also check the following pics about my kaoss
I think this will look great! (and it's easy/cheap to construct)

I think ^^ this is better...

Hi mate,

I think it's not high enough .It's just 75 cm from the ground.I don't know how tall you are but I think this is not the correct height. I have it on 85 cm, and it's perfect.

Greetings,
Blighty

you're using your fingers for the kaoss pad right ? don't you think it's going to be inconvenient to have it behind the table ? you 'll have to stretch your arm in order to use it, so it won't be easy to use your fingers on the touch pad. i think it would be better somewhere where you arm won't be stretched.next to the mixer or in ftont of it would be perfect (if there is space of course).

the first one is better i think, and i'll agree with blighty and lanithium, it is a little too short + speakers under the table really suck... you'll notice by yourself when you'll place your stuff on the table.

looks pretty cool though, are you going to build this on your own ? it sure will take much of an effort...

take some pictures of this when you're done, and some pictures of the studio too, it's pretty interesting watching other people's ideas.

& in case not everybody in here speaks greek, the blue things drawed on the table are holes, "Trypa=hole"

If I was you, I wouldn't make a whole station for all of the items that you have it made for. I would make a TRANSPORTABLE X-stand for my cd/turntables and mixer and then hook the rest up on your desk or something. This way you can move your dj eq to the next party/club that you go to, or at least may dream of going to . I like my decks and mixer high, I have mine set for 94cm on the top of my x stand/bottom of my case and 109cm for the top of my case/decks/mixer. I know it's a bit tall, but I'm also 6'3" (191cm).

I also think that it's a very bad idea to even make room for the speakers, even if it is temporary, the speakers will not only vibrate the whole table you want to build, but you won't be able to hear crap from them! The music will be projected right past you unless you have some increadible ear-foot coordination! Then it will bounce of the walls and you will hear a delayed beat. Get speaker stands and put them infront of you from the begining.

The next, and probably most important part, is to leave room for heat! Your amp will generate a lot ot heat and so you best make extra room and vents with fans for it if you are not going to have a top port (because heat rises) to allow for cooling. Your turntables won't generate that much heat, but you mixer will though, and so you have to allow room for heat dissipation for that also!

I'd suggest you go for something that is on the market already because they have engineered these things into the stand. I was having a problem with getting a stand that could hold my case for my mixer and cd decks, while allowing for me to upgrade my setup with a pair of turntables while not making me buy or build onto my existing stand. I found one with arm bars that extend above the main platform. Check out Quiklok stands! That's the one that I got, and I'm very happy with it!

hey, thanks for your time and suggestions
let me answer to some things
@ blighty : I guess you are right... I am gonna make it 85cm...
@ Sinonick : The pad won't be behind the deck... It will actually be above the mixer I will post a little jpg later to understand.
@ Sinonick : No, I will order it
@ Sinonick : Sure I will photograph it
@ Dj Flesch : I will never take these out of my home So I want something stable...
@ Dj Flesch : Well actually I won't pump the speakers since I have had some problems with police in the past, so I don't vibrations will be a problem... I am seriously thinking of it though... I can't buy speaker stands now, cause the whole station will be in the living room (lol) and my parent's won't let me convert it to a club
@ Dj Flesch : My amp is 13cm and I have left space for 20cm... don't you think this is enough? Besides, I will only use it for about 2/3 hours/day...

I suggest having the speakers on the sides at the same height as your kaos pad

hey jdat, cool mate

humm never heard of that mixer or even that brand.

what's the little things that are under the faders?
bpm counters?

and yeah I'm cool

Posted by Andrew K on Aug-02-2002 19:13:

yes... bpm counters.
I will post pics of this mixer as soon as I develope my film
it's a great mixer if you ask me!

Posted by Sinonick on Aug-03-2002 01:55:

i love mine too, SM-256

0.02 distortion sound pretty neat to me...

only my crossfader is bleeding (after a hardfall, when some idiot FAT fuck threw it on the floor by moving his FAT UGLY ASS to grab his pack of cigarettes from the floor... if you're in the forums you know who you are...)

i'm gonna buy the cheapest one of this mixer series (SM-250) to replace my fader. it's exactly the same with mine

Posted by Andrew K on Aug-03-2002 07:41:

why don't you just call them, I believe they can send you a spare one...
you can find their details www.tele.gr here

Posted by Sinonick on Aug-03-2002 14:17:

i don't know, do you think they'd just send me a crossfader? and how much would it cost?

i don't think they 'll be so anxious to help me out. besides: such damages are not covered by ANY guarantee...

i'll give it a try though

Posted by Andrew K on Aug-03-2002 18:45:

I think they will sell it to you pretty cheap (15euros or so...) give it a try...

btw you are on our map : http://www.aweb.gr/TAgreece.jpg

does the speaker height have anything to do with kaoss pad height?

is there a specific reason for that height or is it just that it would be nice at that height ?

you got my point...

(a assure you, i can read perfectly since 8years old...)

- -Andrew_K thnx
btw i'll give them a call in the morning

Posted by Martin McG on Aug-04-2002 01:21:

i think what they meant was the speakers should be moved to head height so they are better positioned for monitoring and mixing and the kaoss pad will be at that height cos it means he dont got to stretch to use it then! so i think the point is it would be easier just to make them all at the same height and prolly not cos it would actually affect performance in any way!

if that makes sense?!

Posted by jdat on Aug-04-2002 14:34:

when I said put it at the same heigth I didn't mean exactly at the same heigth and it had nothing to do with the kaoss pad per se.

just I suggest having the speakers above the table at about that level cause it's better to hear the sound correctly.
