I think it all started with the Canadian government not allowing more flights into Canada from their national airlines Emerates. But yes they are certainly causing themselves more harm than good by doing this. Less tourism $$ for them.

Much of the damage to Canada was already done - Canada was forced to shut down there all their military transit/support operations for Afghanistan (and pull out all personnel). It was a crucial flight route, but good thing we have Cyprus/Turkey/Germany who kindly offered transitional bases for a new route to service our operations in Afghanistan.

Harper said that there are more votes to be gained in bashing israel yet he has decided to stand behind them even if it means fewer votes and not getting a UN seat. Again kudos. If this was a one off event, ok sure...blame it on the uae. But given all of the follies of the conservatives as of late...does this not send off any alarm bells with any of you? wake the fuck up.

I've been to the UAE, and I plan on going again (relatively soon). I also have multiple friends who travel there on a regular basis and good friends who live there. This is a royal pain in the ass.

When is the last time this has happened to Canada? I mean, really.

I don't see how this is doing that. Poor foreign diplomacy and using standing up for anti-semitism as a reason for falling out of favour in the UN are standing up for our values? That's a pretty delusional train of thought. Standing up for Israel is NOT the reason for Canada's deteriorating foreign image. Non-action and hypocrisy on a lot of key global issues as well as horrible foreign diplomacy is the real problem here. You can start with Copenhagen.

Canadians are so apathetic and out of touch with these issues, it's quite disturbing really. We have one of the worst governments, diplomatically speaking in power right now in the history of our country and we're throwing out "fuck the UAE, fuck the world type comments? How the fuck did Canada ever come to be like this? This isn't how we do things. We're not the fucking USA.

The UAE, come on, arguably the most progressive gulf/arab state and we manage to fuck up the relationship? Why, because we want to allow star alliance to monopolize international travel routes? Because we're afraid Emirates is going to be come in and steal international air traffic? As consumers, you all should be fucking infuriated. Your government is fucking you, just like it has with the major cell phone carriers, and we scream fuck the UAE! lol, good for us.

Since countries such as France, India and the UK have been more critical of Israel than Canada, are they anti-Semitic?

I am not gonna criticize anyone for their beliefs here ... but I am neither a Jew-lover nor a Muslim-hater. People who know me well, they understand. I am not gonna go in detail, as I do not want this to become the 1000th Israel vs. Palestine thread. I am critical of these "royal families" of UAE and Saudi Arabia, I discussed these before and will not touch down on that here because its not the topic.

I am fiercely pro-Canadian, and I disagree with a lot of things that are going on in the entire Persia-Mesopotamia-Arabian Peninsula-Holy Land area. That includes American occupation, too. So please don't brand me anti-Muslim or whatever, unless you know me well.
