Rasta Acoustic treatment

Hey guys
had a question about this product..

acoustic treatment board

if anyone knows anything about acoustic treatment would you mind having a look at this. It seems pretty cheap and it will ship to my door for cheap. It also looks alrite too.

I have a little box of a studio that has giprock walls n roof.. carpet on the floors.

this is a dodgy drawing of it. the pink is what im proposing.

unfortunately I am not allowed to put much more acoustic stuff on the walls however I can put that big one on the back (the pink in the picture)

is this the way to go your reckon? will the product on that webpage be ok to put up there?

cheers

Worthless. Look at GIK Acoustics or RealTraps.

LOL...eric , They are all essentially the same product made in the same way. You can even build acoustic panels yourself if your budget is too tight.

The cmf acoustic panels look ok and their price is very good. Also have a look at ATS Acoustics, i think they ship internationally.

A flat piece of board with some fabric stretched over it is not going to do anything, dude. You need a bit of depth to have any type of absorption or diffusion properties. But, hey, its your money. Do what you want.

diffuser where the couch is, not an absorber. also, research this topic before you make any purchase of acoustic treatment. research it A LOT

it's ridiculous how many people think auralex bass traps even trap bass, when it's completely different. all they do is absorb mids/high-mids and you pay an ass load for a midrange trap that could go towards making an actual bass trap from scratch

you should begin your venture in acoustic treatment with playing pink noise in your area, and then, walking around the room looking for where standing waves, fluttering echos and such are located. you make a well detailed plan of your room, start off with high frequencies and work your way down to lows. bass traps are easy to make, a fraction of the price that realtraps cost, same with absorption foam. i'll post links later that provide a good guide for where to start with acoustic treatment and even building it yourself without purchasing overpriced shit like auralex

Ouf of curiousity, what would we be looking for when we're looking for standing waves and fluttering echoes?

You can build most of this stuff with some rockwool and some frames right? I need to do something about my guitar amp, its in a corner between my wardrobe and (brick) wall, and its just pure mud. I'm wondering if I threw a bass trap behind it if it'd cut back some of the bass reflections I'm getting around the 100-200 hz mark.

I think TA needs a tutorial on acoustic treatment actually...

There is a great instructional video by Sonic Academy: How To Make A Sound Absorber. Cant seem to find it online, maybe I can upload it if you want.

To be honest i'm not even sure how I got the video, hope I'm allowed to share it. Its nothing tooo special, you can find many Youtube videos on how to build similar panels. Also, for a more technical look I recommended reading this [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
I'm going to implement what I learned there on portable panels instead of the installed panels that the author recommends.

I wouldnt buy these over GIK traps, looking at the absorption reports they dont seem anywhere near GIK's 244 for example (maybe im reading it wrong) - also it seems they only go down to 125hz???????? not much good if you have a big null/peak at 60..........

they are cheap for a reason
