Americans & Canadians - Please start doing this.

FFS.

Yes, that's right; FFS. It's an acronym thread.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE

It is not "For fuck sake," nor is it "For fuck sakes".

It is for the sake of fuck. "Fuck's sake," if you like.

I realise it makes little sense anyway if you care to take it literally, but if you want to talk like someone from the UK or Australia (or possibly even New Zealand and South Africa!), then at least make an effort to get it right

I don't know why this bothers me, but I've been drinking, so that probably has something to do with it

obviously this is is meant as a joke, but this has to be one of the worst out there for irking me. I have no idea why it pisses me off so much.

It makes no fucking sense.

This and also "Oh yeah, it's really ADDICTING".

Posted by shaw on Nov-13-2010 12:22:

I already do. Stop badgering me ffs.

I always say fuck's sake. But then I consider myself an expert on swearing so...

Posted by Ygrene on Nov-13-2010 13:37:

I think instead of saying 'For Fuck's Sake' I would like to say 'Eat Your Beard'.

Dammit or damn it. No such word as damnit.

that's the phrase which makes me cringe every time I hear it, the for fuck(-)'s sake is diluted by the accent here. Everyone drops off the ends of their words in the middle of the country anyways so I assume the s is missing because of their accent. When people say the I could care less, I will often respond "glad you care at least a bit" and they will give me a cockeyed blank-face in response.

I would say "fuck sakes" is completely acceptible.
