Peace Data - Paper Happiness EP (Uber Trend Records) Trancealert Review

Tech-Trance, Techno and Psychedelic sounds all make a pleasant appearance in this dark and pumping EP by Peace Data.


Peace Data

The Peace Data project was started in 1999 by Dennis Kozlov. The idea at the start was to propose a bizarre humorous alternative to the too serious Psychedelic Trance sound of that period. In about 10 years, Peace Data has released two artist albums: Peace Death in 2004 and Infected Washroom this year.

Pumping kicks, infected acid synths, rolling basslines and a permanent dark atmosphere: this is how we can describe in few words this last EP by Peace Data. An EP that follows only few months after the release of the last Peace Data album: Infected Washroom.

Paper Happiness and Insomnifuck are the two standout works here. Paper Happiness is the only track with some distinctive melodic elements that however do not clash with the overall banging groove. Insomnifuck instead has a much thicker pumping kick and a vibe that stays dark and oppressive from start to finish. Only complaint we have is that some sounds employed maybe needed to be treated a bit more.


Verdict: this EP by Peace Data, a side project of Dennis Kozlov, is a worthy introduction to the music of this talented Russian artist.
