Plastikman (Richie Hawtin) REMIX competition
I thought the Hernan & Lawler TOTA remix threads were a huge success... let's do another one! The original + parts to this are fucking sick... I bet a lot of the entry's will be insanely creative, let's see what some of TA's best can do...

We're teaming up with Burn Studios to help you grab a spot on the biggest compilation of 2011.
Richie Hawtin is one of electronic music's recognizable figures, and his Plastikman alias is responsible for some of techno's most indelible moments. With the upcoming release of his career-spanning Arkives box set, we figured we needed to do something a little bit special to celebrate. That's why RA has teamed up with Burn Studios to offer up one of our biggest competitions ever.
We're offering one lucky producer the chance to get their work onto the digital release of Arkives, by remixing "Ask Yourself." And, as if that weren't enough, you'll also win a 2,500 euro voucher for Avid.com's web shop and a pro SoundCloud account. Five runners-up will also receive a number of prizes as well.
How to enter...
1. Download the remix parts here: http://soundcloud.com/burnstudios/s...mix-competition
2. Read the terms and conditions. (By uploading a track, you agree to these.)
3. Ensure you are in one of the eligible countries of residence by reading the terms and conditions. You will need to include your legal country of residence in your track description when you upload it.
4. Make sure your track title is formatted like this (fill in the blank with your name):
PLASTIKMAN - Ask Yourself (___________ Remix)
5. Upload your track using the below DropBox before December 31st at 11:59:59 am, GMT. (Please be sure to state your legal country of residence in your track description.)
(I don't know whether to actually try and remix this seriously, or to just fuck around and make a super weird downtempo tune)
lol this looks like fun man, i will see.
Elendil?? i challenge you
Elendil is going to own this one too.
Ask yourself is one of my favorite plastikman singles. Fuck, I may even take a stab at it!

to be honest remix competitions are a waste of time..

| Originally posted by MSZ heh, a label mate did a remix, over 4000 views, i think its one of the best made remixes, its not exactly a club stormer, just a chill-out feel good track, i think would be great for radio. he got no where close i believe, i dont think even a mention, but i still think its one of the best ones. ^^ |
you raise a good point, hope you checked out some other remixes to actually verify my claim. ofcourse music is subjective and it all depends on whos judging and what theyre personally looking for. i still dont think its a waste of time because of the points i made; im sure you agree and are not narrow-minded.
4000 plays is far from a waste of time...unless 3500 of them are your own lol

I think these contests are great for up and coming producers to not only have highly respected DJs listen to their abilities but also a way to learn from other producers.
see I can be positive.....sometimes
omg you noticed? <3 <3 <3 wait, doesn't that mean you go there too?

well i havent learned anything in a long long time in the production studio, its really fun going there because it is relevant to my interests lol. music promo is fun if you have time to comment on others peoples work as well as your own. those people who just drive-by it there, get no replies. its a good resource for sure, but the only one thats going to make the decision of this sounds good? is yourself ultimately(and the label!).
