So, I'm looking for a decent 2 channel analogue mixer....

Or so I've heard apparently there are 2 types of mixers: digital mixers and analogue mixers that compliment CD players/Turntables in terms of sound quality respectively. Just sold my CDJ package and returning back to vinyl. Problem now is, I need a 2 channel mixer. Can anybody suggest one worth buying in terms of quality?

Give me some details on what you might consider decent, and I'll gladly post some recommendations. I've tried a lot of them.

Well for a start, an FX board is not necessary at all. Price range is not to exceed lets say... 600 US? I'm looking for raw sound quality and support for earthing cables.

Do you prefer faders, or knobs?

Argh!!!!! Tough choice man. Would another 50 bucks break you?

This Urei looks so awesome, I've been wanting to try it but I don't know anyone who has one yet : http://www.skratchworx.com/reviews/1601e.php

If $650 is terribly high, there's a Vestax I would like to also recommend...it's not all knobs but still awesome sound quality for the price : http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.co...ixer?sku=633207 and it's only $400

I'll increase the limit to an extra $100 and see what I can finance later

No, no...I'm pretty sure that's a mixer controller for software mixing.

That Urei is so tantalizing in the site's pics

Urei mixer seems like an intruiging piece of hardwarwe. Will put onto my wishlist. Thanks!

The site claims the original 1601 is the same thing minus the effects. Don't know if the 1601 is discontinued or not, though. Might be worth checking into.

$499.00 Definitely awesome and you won't need to pay extra for those effects you didn't need or want.

You're a legend. Cheers

Glad I could help

Rane's are awesome, but that TTM56 posted above is wayyyy over your budget.

i dont think xone is the best, for time coded vinyl i mix better on a vestax VMC 002 better. Maybe its good for cd use, i haven't tested it on that. By the way the xone 32's price on dj deals has gone back up to $699.00

ah ok then theres better mixers for the value probably. i dont understand how sources can have anything to say on how you see the mixer quality though. a cd player is a cd player no matter what mixer you have. of course midi could have alot to say for computer djs though but i dont understand how VMC 002 can be better for vinyl and worse for cd?

Build quality. Maybe they put more focus on the phono preamp side than say the line level side. Makes it a better selling point to the vinyl guy.

And as Ortofon stated, personal preference.

its not a personal preference which mixer has the best phonoamps.

Posted by orTofønChiLd on Nov-28-2010 03:08:

I use the vestax's line in because thats what traktor scratch control vinyl uses. Just because xone's have hefty price tag doesn't mean your gonna mix longer or better. They are aimed at the numerous features thats comes with the mixer. Most mixers aren't advertised as digital or analogue (most). Now the vestax is obviously made different than the xone but still its analogue. I prefer the sound of vestax over a xone when it comes to timecoded vinyl.

CD's or time coded sound different than vinyl, both are digital. This is where you choose your person perference.
