Invisible Grin Q about the whole P2P thing

The senate is passing a law or something to stop P2P networks.. what if the program and company originates..in say.. Slovenia..or something. what can the Senate do? im guessing they have the right to stop Americans from using the program.. but how can they really enforce that

THEY CAN'T. If the programs based in another country, NOTHING can be done. Americans can use it. ANYONE CAN USE IT. NOONE WILL KNOW...

They can issue all the bills they want, even if ONE gets through, itll be some time before it can actually be ENFORCED.

I believe you are talking about the Berman Bill. This is a really nasty bill that hopefully won't make it through congress. Basically, it gives *any* copyright holder the power to stop P2P by any means necessary. This includes hacking, DOS attacks, etc. I've heard that if you feel you were wrongly attacked, you can file a charge against them, which has to be investigated within 4 months. Of course, proving that you didn't have anything 'illegal' on your hard drive at the time of the attack might be a little tough. So, I ask you, do you think the average Joe who now has this power is going to check and make sure that their target is located in the United States? What a horrible, horrible idea....
