Hello from a production newbie
I've mostly stuck to Music Discussion up till now, but since I've started to produce some of my own music I decided I might venture over to this forum too.
Hopefully you don't get many threads like this, but what I need is advice. Advice on loop programs, sample producing programs, artist promotion sites, ect.
As of now I'm only using a limited number of electronica loops with Acid 2.0, and I'm having trouble producing the sound I'm looking for. All I've been able to make is some tribal/tech stuff which is all to mechanical for me.
I started up an mp3.com account to post my work, and hopefully that will serve me well. Is ACIDPlanet.com better?
Thanks to any who reply. I'll participate here now and then.
if you really want to start producing your own tunes (not using loops) I recommend the software "propellerheads reason"
go here for info and screenshots

$400? Ouch. But the Reason software looks amazing. Seems many others here use it. Thanks.
reason is amazing. but check out Fruity Loops because you can get that for free(you can get eanything for free but not legaly) and it will make reason way easer to use.
acidplannet is no good stick with mp3.com

That's nothing compared to reason man, once you get to know Fruity better it'll also make Reason simpler to deal with
Reason isnt that bad. Just find a simple tutorial to learn the basics and from there I opened up demp songs and just messed around to learn the rest.
I know how to use Fruity and now I'm trying to learn how to use Reason... But that's not easy at all!!
Fruity was more like little toy, Reason is full studio. So my little head is veeery confused
But time and doing will teache, I hope.
Yeah I just recently switched over from FruityLoops to Reason as well. I only understand about .01% of the things in Reason so far and I can't find a good tutorial anywhere. =P. Producing is still fun though, so I'll be sure to learn it soon, at least more than I know it now.
I think oDrori is right... once uv got to kno FruityLoops well (give it about 10 months of non stop producing) you should be able to get to grips with Reason 2 quite easily.. Iv used Fruity Loops for about 2 yrs and am now switching over to Reason 2 soon... the demo took a few weeks of messing to figur out the very basics but i managed it so the full product shouldnt be to hard to understand

Dear Michael Russo, it was MY opinnion that Fruity is more like a toy. I just happend to like Reason's sounds more
I think I've heard over 100 songs made by Fruity when I switched to Reason. And now when I've listen many Reason tracks, I have to say that those Reason songs sounds much more full. I mean, they're more deep and professional sounding. And that's is just MY personal opinnion...
And I'm really sorry Michael to scare U, but what can I do if I think that Reason is "hard" to learn? Should I just say "oh, I learned Reason in one second after I swithed over Fruity to Reason"? That's not the fact in my case... I do know some things in Reason how they work, but I still got much more to learn.
So please little angry Michael, stop yelling and start smiling

"little angry michael"... hahaha that made me laugh
Michael, silly little (sorry, HUGE) you
Is that better?
Just teasing... Anyway, good to see U laughing
Anyway... I think those tracks made with Fruity weren't (at least not all of them) beginners work. I downloaded most of the from www.sectionz.net Good site for Floopers
So... Michael, I did say it was MY oppinnion, my own personal oppinnion that I like more Reason sounds. I didn't say that is the fact or anything... That is just my oppinnion. ANd sorry if that makes U angry
