Rapid Evolution 3 Beta
So I was debating on getting M.i.K. 3 this weekend but I didn't realize the folks from RE put out a new beta couple of months ago. Obviously I grabbed the freeware > paying but I wanted to check in with you guys as to what some people think of the key detection accuracy between RE and M.i.K.? And also anyone who's used RE3, their input regarding that software versus M.i.K.
I've used RE2 in the past and I've found that the key detection is generally 90%/95% correct. The interface in RE3 also seems to be a lot simpler and key detection takes a lot quicker than before. Other than that I can't find a reason as to why I should go and spend 60$ on M.i.K. and get the same results as RE3. But maybe I'm missing something here.
And folks, I am aware that using my ears beats software any day of the week. So please don't say that, im just looking for pros and cons.
EDIT: You can check the RE3 beta for yourself [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
RE3 works ok for what it does, it has a crazy amount of extra features compared to RE2. Accuracy-wise, I don't think there is a big difference between RE and MIK, even though the RE developer came up with his own detection algorithm. I doubt your 90% correct results is a realistic ratio. Quite often these softwares make mistakes between major and minor keys or are sometimes even completely wrong.
Your totally right. I've noticed that the ratio was clearly over exaggerated by my sources while I gave the software a test run. In some ways it has taught me to use my ears more and that the software is only a rough reference of each key of a track. As far as paying for M.i.K., I'm convinced I don't need waste money buying it when I have a good pair of ears.
