Damn I can hear now!! lol. Want to do some more shopping need some help..
After 7 years of producing w/out a soundcard/interface like a dumbshit now I completely understand what the point is.
The sound is a whole nother level with this echo. It actually seems like I can mix different sounds better now. But the thing is, I'm looking around at actual sound cards now after buying it.
I got the Echo for $174, and the sound card I want to refund it for is the HT OMEGA CLARO Plus+ 7.1 Channels 24bit 192khz PC Interface Sound Card. And the Echo is only 96khz. What does that mean in terms of the sound? Seems like a trade up as I don't need connectivity I just need the best sound I can get and its the same price so its worth asking =] I do want it though theres 190 pretty fantastic reviews on it. I read them all. Not. Just like the first 20. And people praise the shit out of it.. just go read.
Is it worth it do you think?
I also need to update my cpu.
I'm working on a Core2 Duo E7400 bench mark 1900
and an unclockable mother board.
I want to get:
NEW AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU 3.4 GHz AM3 Black Edition
Buy It Now $179.99
Free shipping
Over at Ebay. Its benchmarked 4268.
I'm also getting a new mobo that will allow more memory (working on 4gigs) up to 16gigs. Although I'm not getting more memory for another month. And I'm not sure if AMDs overclock but that would help too. Heres the mobo - not important if you look just posting the links.

Now, does this sound like a *smart* plan? Or no? I'm not as experienced as some of you.
I will also be formatting my computer, and isolating my desktop finally for music. Then I'm splitting a laptop to the same monitor which I will use for all my "software testing", with a KVR switch. Which is always why my computers get so messed up in the first place I believe.
Today I was able to max out my computer with >>1<< fucking ACE bass patch. Its driving me insane. I know ACE is the biggest cpu whore that exists, but what do you need 2 cores for each g/damn version of it?! Thats what I'm working with right now
It doesn't make any sense.
Even using z3ta that synth is only like 1/3 to 1/4 the power relatively. Usually 4-5 z3tas can cripple my computer now, with only like 10-15 mild effects open (delay, equal, reverb, compressor). I can't stand this does anyone think this is actually caused by having too many torrents?
I don't even use them all tbo I just always am downloading the shit. But I also never seem to get viruses at all. It just always seems that my computer wants to get slow after installing them all. Could it be the drivers from the torrents?
This upgrade better work or I am coming back to systematically complain about every individual piece of software on my computer. And that can take a veeeerrrryyyyyyyy loooongggg time. And you all know you will read it just like your stupid asses read this haha.
lolz wheres the heart emoticon?
i also smoked some green tonight, but as many questions as you guys can answer I'd really appreciate it. Even if you have opinions like you think intel is better than AMD please go right ahead. The more I learn now the less I need to ask later.
budget?
Just to make you feel small, I have 2 mac pros with 32 gigs of ram each with 1 apogee symphony and an apogee duet and 8 hardrives for cute cat clips. My safari has never browsed so quick. I can also edit my homemade dance videos extremely quick.
I'm curious as to why you have such a shit setup. Don't you work ? And if you are in school, don't you have access to low fixed rate loans ? No excuse. And why are you using ACE ? Such a pointless synth that for some reason takes too much CPU and sounds like any other subtractive synth. And the whole any cable anywhere is a joke. That is one of the least modular synths around. I wouldn't even use the term modular. It sucks.
Just go to gearslutz, find some common setup that works well and get it. Quick fucking around with components that might or might not work well together. How many months or years has it been since you've been complaining and in turn had no output what so ever.
lol robby. dont buy surround card ahahahaha. the echo totaly wins over any of those, both soundquality and performance. havent you learned anything here the last 4 years? echo soundcards are the best (price considered). u dont say what echo card it is though but i guess its audiofire 2 when i look at the price.
seriously consider this: where is the money put? on two channels or devided on 8?
what is best: balanced dual mono jacks, or minijack stereo?
you are out of your mind. again. get a grip
you have an echo, you believe it sounds amazing and you can hear elements clearer and mix better using it....and now you want to return it for something else?
its completely non sense lol. good luck robby, we cant help u, ur on your own now.

To Andy - How are porn sites gonna do shit to my computer? Think about it.
You are only clicking on a flash video to play it, nothing is getting installed on your computer unless you are somehow downloading shit too... which you're not, cause most porn sites now and days work just like youtube.
Do you get viruses from youtube? No.
If you're downloading gigs of porn through torrents, or a p2p file sharing program then YEH that might make sense, but in this case it doesn't.
Its definitely the torrents doing it. The drivers in those torrents are manipulated/rewrote in a way to crack the program, but the drivers are also unstable and slow down your computer. So its not porn.
To Kenny - You are officially the 3rd person on this site who has said "Echo is the best", in an almost "duh" sort of manner like this is just common knowledge the whole world should know.
I say bullshit. I like the way the Echo sounds, but you're mentioning balanced analog ins and I DON'T NEED connectivity. I even said this before I bought it, and 1 person still recommended I buy it (Rann) at which point I did.
I'm focusing on the khz specs, I asked a specific question which still wasn't answered. I don't record nor do I have hardware that would ever require an interface, I might use it for a mic every once in a blue moon but it seems like I'm spending money for ports and extra specs I don't even care about.
I want the BEST SOUND. There are sound engineers on newegg.com with 12 years experience recommending the Claro for SPECIFIC reasons. All I've ever heard on this forum (from 3 people) over and over is "Echo rocks!! Just get it!!" But never WHY, noone ever reads my posts or understands what the hell I'm saying. It has a higher khz rating, that MEANS to me it has better sound. That is ALL I care about. Now can you answer based on whats relevant to what I actually posted?
To M4B - I do work (Mold Remediation/Basement Waterproofing) but its a seasonal job. Only busy in the spring and this time of year. I also go to school though (finishing up now) so that eats up a lot of time, although I do have some money I'm not broke like atx broke lol.
Your system fucking rocks, but I only have about a spare $500 to spend right now. Being as though you seem like somewhat of a philanthropist.. how about you just give me your entire set up? =]
And yeh theres nothing great about ACE but it does make the best house plucks I've ever heard, not sure why. I only used it for that project because I was trying to see if I could find 1 patch that would topple my CPU and it wound up being a bass patch. I saved the project just encase anyone said "I don't believe you're maxing out a core2 duo with a single ace patch".
Its just to prove that something is seriously wrong with my system. Although theres not a single virus on it. Theres no way in hell that ace fans are using 2 fast intel cores for every 1 cpu heavy ace patch they're running, makes no sense at all.
To G-Con - READ THE FUCKING POST. Again someone who is too lazy to read what I wrote but not too lazy to open their fuckn mouth. The Echo
is great I LIKE IT, but for what I NEED (sound not connectivity ) the Claro seems like a MUCH better deal. Like I said there are sound engineers recommending the shit go read the feedback I've never read
feedback like that in my life for a soundcard. Then we have regular posters on tranceaddict telling me to keep the Echo. So the question to me becomes: Who should I go with? 3 random posters on an internet forum telling me to keep the Echo, or 190 people on newegg, some with
very impressive credentials, recommending the Claro.
I can't possibly say it any clearer.
I just want to say I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO
Now, to be a little more technical about your questions, firstly, stay away from surround if that's part of your intention. I work in surround most of my waking life at a very serious studio, and I still consider myself a novice, so trust me when I say this the nicest possible way, you don't have a chance, at least not for the next 5 years of plugging away.
Now on to the claro. The reason it has all these positive reviews is that compared to the utter pile of shit that is a s soundblaster, it's probably a step up, and all the people reviewing it are home hifi enthusiasts who know nothing about professional audio, at least when the main criteria is music production. They want surround sound that makes their colored hifi system sound good. Sorry the engineering reviews are probably fake or for guys that engineer in a completely different discipline. Trust me, I've got 12 years of engineering experience in studio and score stage engineering and I'm telling you it's not great.
Why do I think it's turd? Those shitty little C-media chips which are barely a step up from what you'll find bundled on a cheap motherboard.
"But Rann, it's got 192 KillaHurtz!". "it MUST be more betterer"
No, cos that doesn't mean shit. 96k of good conversion is worth far more that 192 of crap conversion. The echo uses the same DAC chips that you'll find on other interfaces made by the likes of RME which are $1000+ and extremely highly regarded.
Simply put, you don;t know how good you've got it right now. Your echo card is as good as it gets until you shell out at least $800 imo, and even then the difference is minimal. You want better that the echo? Then pony up and get a grand ready to spend, but honestly, unless you've got a very nice pair of monitors, you're really not going to notice it.
I told you to trust me the first time round and I was right. I'm saying do the same again.

Alright DJ Rann I'll trust you lol. Thats all I was looking for was some kind of explanation between the sound. And it cleared a great deal up.
Next upgrade I think I'm gonna go big and get better everything + a Nord 2 rack. I might as well get more hardware now that I have holes to stick it in.
Maybe I'll just stick tiestos head in one of my analog ins, then watch your 5 years suck my balls. =]
my god
robby: it has balanced outputs too, not just inputs!!! fuck kHz! it doesnt matter when your not recording anyway. is this clear enough for you? the echo is awesome and everyone knows it. stick with it man, stick with it!!!!!!!!!

and do not focus on kHz

just to sum up: stick with echo!
dont ask why, its like religion.
man i wish someone was as clear to me as we are to robby, when i started out. would save me alot of time and money. please robby just believe us and save that time and money. get/keep the audiofire!! were not lying. we are saying it to help you, not to fool you.
Are you going to publish in 192Khz?!? or even 96Khz?!?
