Martinez Brothers @ Good Units [REVIEW]

Got to good units with Chaska around 10ish, there was a line to get in even with RSVP, but it slowly but surely was moving and we got in about 30 min later. This was my first time there and I must say the venue felt really underground. You would never even think a club like that was located in the basement of such a nice hotel. Anyways, the Martinez Bros really impressed me last night, dropped classics, great buildups, flawless mixing, and smooth programming...i definitely was impressed by these youngsters' skills. The only complaint i have was that the party ended right around 12am

The sound was fine for the venue, but the place could def use some more lighting.

wtf...how did i miss that the martinez bros were gonna be around yday

its prob annoying that i keep bringing demf up, even till this day (whatever, shoot me) but everytime ppl would ask me what set i enjoyed the most, i wasnt able to respond. since there were too many to choose just one. but then added to that response that one thing that DEF stuck out for me from it was the martinez bros- these kids f*cking IMPRESSED the shit out of me!!

I was just saying yesterday how I'm still kicking myself for missing them in detroit, haha, I slept way too much during that trip. Won't be making that mistake next year!

I wish the party had gone longer, got there too late I was told more parties are going to be happening there in the future, looking forward to it, the venue is awesome.

I heard this is a nice spot. Anyone have pics of the place?

Anything good coming up there in the next couple of months?

I went there to see Dubfire last weekend- He Killed it. The spot itself is like 2 levels below the hotel- very simple layout, overall dim lighting throughout the place- one bar in the open area when you first walk in- its actually a good spot for people who just want to linger around. The dancefloor itself is not huge but a good decent size, the soundsystem can be tweaked a little maybe add some more subwoofers but for the spot not awful. The lighting system was pretty simple and straightforward - nothing too crazy not many lazers and stuff- mainly lights utilizing the many disco balls they have piled on one another- a cool effect. I like the spot since its pretty raw and dark- it caters to people who are there for the music and those that want to mingle can chill in the area before the dance floor. They had couches setup along both sides of the dancefloor and even though it takes up some dancefloor space - cool to have to catch a breather. Overall a cool spot and I would actually be more inclined to pick it over other spots since it is intimate and easy to find peeps your rolling with. Since it is part of the hotel it was scheduled to close at 4- but they pushed it till 5 that night.

This is a very cool spot, I'm surprised you haven't checked it out yourself yet! You'll like it The drinks aren't ridiculously expensive either and the dancefloor is perfect, it encourages dancing. Like TaurusNYY said, the bar area is for ppl who want to stand around, so the ppl in the dancefloor are there for dancing. The mezzanine is pretty cool too, lots of dark corners for doing dirty deeds I haven't seen a club like that in a while. As soon as you hit the dancefloor area, there's this big-room feel that is intimate at the same time. There should be more places like this around NY (besides concert halls).

I'm starting to like the UWS more now, more and more options are popping up... Sankeys is supposed to open in that area as well
