Vibrasphere project is over

Just read the tweet from Ektoplazm that linked to the announcement made by Tribal Vision label manager Slater on Isratrance.

Here a copy-paste of it:

quote:
Hello everyone!

We are very sorry to inform you that Rickard Berglf and Robert Elster have decided to close down the Vibrasphere project. This is due to several reasons, but mainly Rickard and Robert feel it is time to move on to other projects within the music. After all 12 years is a very long time for any music project.

They are very grateful to all the fans, promoters, labels, djs and other people that has supported Vibrasphere in the past 12 years and sincerely hope that at least some of you will remember their music also in the years to come.

Vibrasphere will keep performing live until the end of May 2011, the dates of their performances will be officially announced soon. Any promoters interested in booking the Vibrasphere live act for this period are recommended to contact us asap at [email protected]

Rickard and Robert are both going to continue to make music out of Cloud 99, but with separate projects. Robert is currently doing mastering jobs for different labels and as for making music, Robert has a new release coming out on the long awaited Vanguard Vol. 3 compilation soon to be released on Tribal Vision, and will be releasing an solo album later in 2011. Those who are interested in his mastering skills, contact Slater at Tribal Vision for further info ([email protected] )

All the best to all of you

Vibrasphere and Tribal Vision

I know some of you don't like their new style, I also prefer the 2000-2006 Vibrasphere sound, but I think they have still managed to move in a different direction without losing their trademark musical identity, something that many other acts can't really say. I personally think they are one of the few acts that can claim to have had a true impact on Trance music during the last decade.

Personally I have some doubts about that. Maybe it would have been better if they even had more impact on Trance music.

overrated

not feeling too bad about this as the stuff they have been releasing the last couple years has been horrible. 2000-2006 was gold tho.

Posted by Lilith on Nov-26-2010 07:01:

Well that sucks, they did make a lot of consistently good music over an otherwise mediocre decade.

I can't wait to see their solo careers on Armada.

vibrasphere - gone
protoculture - sold to the devil
son kite - no longer use that moniker or style

thank fuck for Solar Fields for good new music

Sad news and I am actually a much bigger fan of the sound they've brought throughout the past 3 years (or so) than their earlier stuff. "Lungs of Life" was a fantastic album.

This is really disappointing to see, i liked a lot of stuff they have put out over the years, they will be missed...

This sucks. Archipelago is indeed one of the best trance CDs to be released in the last 10 years.

Yeah

RIP Vibrasphere

Never really liked their trance stuff but I loved a lot of the downtempo.

That sucks. I remember seeing 1/2 of Vibrasphere at a psytrance party in 07. He played a few tracks from Archipelago. Twas a good night.

They were pretty influential back in the days when they were actually making real trance music, not the mellow dub stuff they produced in recent years. Vibrasphere shaped the typical southern swedish-progressive style psytrance, together with groups like Son Kite, Ticon and perhaps even Koxbox or Tenka/The Cujorius One. It was definitely something different compared to the goa trance, Israeli fullon or that horrible nitzhonot trance you could find around that time.

The reason why they are much less influential today is likely the reason why they decided to call it quits.

I think it's better they officially end the project instead of continuously releasing bland material like most other big names are doing today.

Son Kite is now Minilouge, correct? They were fuckin awesome but can't really complain with what Minilogue has done the past few years.
