Paul Oakenfold Facelift Tour @ Webster Hall Thanksgiving Eve [REVIEW]
Got there at around 11:30PM, There was pretty much no line on the guest list side so we got in really fast. Chuckie was already on. I'm pretty sure we missed one DJ before him. Just not sure if it was Nervo or Sidney Samson.
It was pretty packed but not to the point where it was uncomfortable. The crowd was mostly young and the type that push and shove with no regard to the people around them. Got a drink spilled on my shoe (not fun) and then Erica got squirted in the face with beer by the bartender in the side room (also not fun) lol
We weren't really expecting many TA's to be there but we did run into Gina, Tom (EnigmaT), Tom Rogers, and David Guzman.
Chuckie was on from around 1130 - 1 and played some electro, house, and some mashups. It seemed like he was trying to play tracks that the crowd would find familiar. I got a partial tracklist for most of the DJ's
Chuckie:
Faithless - Insomnia
David Guetta - Sexy Bitch
DJ Chuckie - Let The Bass Kick
Basement Jaxx - Where's Your Head At
Daft Punk - One More Time
Kaskade - Dynasty (Dada life Remix)
Wippenberg - Chakalaka
Modjo - Lady
Swedish House Mafia - One
Roger Sanchez went on at 1 - 2:30 and I felt his set lacked in energy when compared to Chuckie. He played quite a few mash ups as well.
Roger Sanchez:
Duck Sauce - Barbara Streisand
Deadmau5 - Ghosts n Stuff (Some mash up)
Robin S - Show Me Love
Green Velvet - La la Land
B-52's - Love Shack
White Stripes - 7 Nation Army
Funkagenda - What The Fuck
Coldplay - Clocks
Underworld - Born Slippy
At 2:30 Oakie came on and additional lighting was switched on as well as a sign with his name on the stage. He was extremely energetic and was dancing around all over the place. I couldn't stay very long after that because I needed to prepare for Thanksgiving the next day but I did get a few videos (hopefully someone here can ID the tracks)
Oakie played a mix of House and Trance.
Oakenfold:
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Slide
DJ's United - Remember Love
Benny Bennassi - Spaceship

I heard the party was meh. I still haven't seen Oakie but not sure if I really want to since it seems his days are long gone.
I apologize in advance, but I had an image of the beer spray going buck wild and hitting Erica, and it made me giggle (sorry Erica!!)

| Originally posted by Groundhog Boy I haven't seen Roger Sanchez in years, but when the fuck did he turn into Pete Tong? I remember him being more Miami house, not 5 year old cheese. |
@ get nyce - I don't think shes a TA but she is friends with some TA's and I have seen her out quite a few times before.
@ Groundhogboy - That is what Tom (Enigmat) said to me about Sanchez a few songs into his set. He said he felt like he was listening to Pete Tongs radio show.
@ xpander - In all honesty tho, I really think they were playing to the crowd and trying to keep it familiar to those who aren't necessarily knowledgeable about EDM but just wanted to come out somewhere on TGE. There were 2 other parties going in the club as well so there was some walk through traffic.
A lot of the songs mentioned were played only for a minute or two and then the rest of the lyrics were layered over a house beat in order to mix with the next track. There were other tracks played as well but I couldn't ID any of the rest.
@ yankeebaby - It was only like a small squirt but still it got in her hair, face, and glasses. I think they should have at least offered her a drink for that...but no, he just apologized.
Z lol just jokes but im sure you already knew that about me

Call me a downer but those tracklists represent everything about the music of today's popular EDM DJs that I can't stand.. When did they lose their drive to take things further? Their music selection needs a "facelift"..
I love Roger Sanchez though, but judging from the tracklist, I'll keep seeing him at Cielo thank you very much..
