madtracker does anyone use this?

i seen a lot of blogs of this guy that raves about madtracker for techno rather than use a more powerful daw like one we are used to thats not free. Has anyone used this free tracker and is it worth trying?

I don't know about recent developments regarding madtracker but i've used it a few times back in the day.

In the end it doesn't matter which tool you use as long as it works for you. If you would like to step into the realm of trackers i'd recommend renoise which you can download for free as well (which will disable asio and wav export but that can be solved).

Renoise is, as far as I know, more recent and has more of the features one should expect in any DAW if you compare it with madtracker. If you would choose Renoise I can help you get into it if you'd like. I've been working with it for a few years now. Feel free to PM and good luck with your choice. I'd say give either a go. You'll know if it works for you soon enough.

used to be this thing called buzztracker. Was complete shit except that at the time, it had the best 303 sim I had ever heard. There was no way to rewire it so I would have to use that program and sample it. Jeskola buzzmachines or something.

Yea I've used that for a year or two as well. The concept was pretty well thought of and later on it got pretty stable. But unfortunately the source code got lost in a system crash and development ended there. I think they've revamped the project not too long ago but I'm not sure.
Especially the ability to program your own synths and effects for renoise made it very very versatile.

@Rann: So true!
