nice one...back 10 years ago graffiti was alot bigger and nicer, for the most part it wassent like how it was in the 80's where people were writeing on everything that was clean they had some kind of respect. Today its just toys going over everyone and nothing mind blowing and write on a brand new fresh painted wall, shits corney go down to the dead tracks or the n line to do some fill-ins

as a former graff artist, YES - I do appreciate these. my crew and i used to roam the tunnels and tracks of Manhattan Bridge, Canal Station, Worth/Brooklyn Bridge, Grand, and City Hall (live and lower abandoned) as well as some light Elmhurst bombing

great times, great post

these pictures are priceless, not many people roamed the train yards back in the day...little did we know we'd have corporate assholes paying us to commission a piece of art in places like D36, also the same assholes who locked us up back in the 90s.

Motherfuckaz been around, act right.

Posted by euphoria on Dec-01-2010 14:52:

I've actually seen some of these in person and remember them well.

SW - from pic #3 you posted up died a while ago.

I knew a lot of the Queens graff artist from back in the 90's. Crews like SMC, OTB, BWS. Mainly in Flushing since I lived down the block from where they all used to hang out.....(Tear, Nec, Smiley, RU, DR, Spok, Mesk, shorty) I haven't seen anything from them in years.

It was all about the art until it turned into graff wars with people tagging over other peoples shit then it became more about the beef.

Haven't really thought about all this in a while. I'm surprised I even remember some of the names.

the q,d,b,f,n lines all are graffed up with some new and old school stuff

Posted by Burak14 on Dec-01-2010 17:58:

i always thought most of them were made by gangs to show other gangs it's their property.

You can kinda tell which one's are gang/set tag's if you are familiar with their symbolism....although thats a constantly evolving trend, so it can be tough to keep up with.

Nice pics Bri. Wasnt around for any of this, but interesting nonetheless.

do you get the itch to rack some?

i remember the best rack spot was the pergament on bay parkway

me and my friends used to get the guy to open up the cage we would say we needed like 30 cans were doing a "school project"...we would take them outside to the gardening section and pass them threw our friends waiting on the other side....and dont get me started bout running threw the subway tunnels running from vandal squad ahhhhh those were the days, what a lil trouble maker i was

yeah i was pretty sick with it. if i could find some pics ill post them lata. ill be honest though i never paid for one can of paint. i used to just walk in a small hardware store up the street from my house with my back pack n just grab cans n run out lol.

EDIT: I still love the smell too, and i still have my tips in my desk drawer that i havent used in like a few years haha. i still have hoodies with paint on the wrist area's too.
