Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Simplex Remix) -- I need your opinion (trance)

Hi everyone!
Here's my trance remix of Eurythmics' classic song 'Sweet Dreams'. I'd like to know what you think about it, what you'd change.
Here's the link: http://soundcloud.com/simplexdj/eur...s-simplex-remix

I was actually expecting to hate this - this was a tough remix to do. However, I think you did a really great job - I like it. The only thing that I would change is the timbre of the synth that you use to play the lead line. It does not quite fit with the rest of the track and in a more general sense - I am just not a fan of the sound. I think that if you change it to something that fits better, you'd have a perfect track. Nice work!

IMO it would sound way better heavily swung - like the swing on the original. The break does not relate to the track - it's just some random film score. The kick is disturbing the mix alot.

I quite like the overall mix and it was a good effort,

Agreed, the kick is fighting the bass line on this constantly and it's quite messy. Duck it or cut frequencies to make it work better.

I think the breakdown is actually the instrumental bridge from the original track though which is repeated later in the track. The bit where Ms Lennox starts opening up the vocal a bit.

The break itself is very weak though as it is just a pad and no real tension is created.

What would have been nice if you had changed the bassline for the different musical sections that occur in the original though as it's just one long chuck with the original over the top of it.

Develop it though as this does have potential and could be a really kick ass remix of a classic track.

Cheers

sorry but not my sound flavor, to much compression.
The snare is well placed and the arrangement is good.

Cheers!

generally the sound of the track is good, but i think this track is a waste of your time to be honest - a really superb trance/hard dance remix of sweet dreams has already been done years ago (i still have the vinyl that i bought of it as a white label when it was hard to get back in about 2000 - those were the days eh!) anyway i digress - my point is, you clearly have some ability to produce, so don't waste time working on tracks like this, try and do something original and ground-breaking instead!!

this sounds ok but i've heard it all before and done so well that your version does nothing for me!

post some original stuff that i can get inspired from!

Oddly enough I have a copy of that too, there is also a Swedish House Mafia mix of that around which is also really good.

I think the point is that if you are going to do it you have to beat whats out there.

even though this track has been remixed to death, and i feel the best version of this song was rob searles remix, i always keep an eye out for remixes of it,especially if its an amateur production.im always looking for something unique by amateur producers.

this is that track.

nice solid trancer with a good bassline.beatmatches well into other songs.i would say the only complaint would be a little over use of the vocals but thats really not a big deal.

really great amateur production here.ill be playing this one out and putting it mixes.good job!

oh yes and thank you for making it available for download! you dont know how many tracks i skip over when i see they arent able to be downloaded so its great to find a free gem like this!

I don't think it was a waste of time. I've been producing music for just 3 months and I tried what I can create. I've got some good feedbacks and some bad as well. But now I've got some advice how to make a better song.

Pretty good effort.

Markus Schulz recently played some instrumental remix of this @ Space. Not sure who's mix that was but there may be another remix of this coming out soon by someone.

The tail of the kick is too long I think.

Herpes simplex?

The weakest part of the track is the break. If you want to pull of a break that drops in the chorus hard, you have to build up the break much higher than you have now, then let it ebb, THEN bring in the chorus.
