actually, not bad for what he has been doing under the SvD guise lately. dub mix will make this much much much better. he's been leaning towards the house side and trying to do the marco v thing which is cool to a certain extent. track is clearly aimed at SHM and the likes for sets.

I'm wondering when any of these electronic music vocalists will ever innovate in terms of their singing delivery, pitch, or lyrics.

The style you hear in this song is exactly the same as every other song out there. These no-name singers show up, record a couple tracks, and then disappear into oblivion as quickly as they came into the scene. Remember how Armin Van Buuren was hyping up Sophie Ellis-Bextor earlier this year for his new album? Surprise, surprise...she's a zero now (just like every other flavor of the week vocalist). The only singers you can recognize from their voices are Fisher and Justine Suissa. Everyone else sounds like Emma Hewitt/Aruna. Dull. Bland. Uninspired.

With any other genre of music, you have vocalists singing in different styles or trying to sound different. Vocal dance music on the other hand is the definition of monotony.

^^ a number of singers used in trance are not "trance" singers but rather singers in punk or rock bands, reason being, there isn't a market for it in the trance scene, it's not about the singer, but rather about the producer, in contrast to, dare i say, all other genres of music

I'm going to have to call BS on the fact that when a 'singer is featured, its still mainly about the producer'. I know many people who recognize EDM singers and they nut themselves when they see their name listed ' feat - . My cousin, who doesn't listen to much EDM can identify the singer of that Afrojack song (can't think of title atm). Even in the commercial word, the singer/rapper is known and almost 99 percent of the time, the producer isn't mentioned on the title.

+1... We can forgive him though, he does come out with some very legit tech and trance throughout the year, so as long as this isn't his completely "new direction", we'll be fine!

I was talking about economically...im not sure how much singers make, but it can't be that much. Im saying the market isn't there, and maybe that is the cause/reason (not sure which) why singers aren't famous in the edm scene

also agree that fisher and especially justine suissa really stand out, the rest of the female vocalists are pretty much interchangeable.

There are definitely exceptions... Nadia Ali being one of them. She does seem to have a much larger hand in production though - correct me if I'm wrong.

Not feeling that vocal at all, but I can't stand most trance vocals.

There are a few exceptions for sure, but the vocalists used in trance these days just aren't very good. Even some of the big ones, that get signed to huge labels, just make me cringe.

I remember seeing you at ferry, pacha. Down stairs at the crack den, good times. But the top 20 is still a fail, fail of fails. I'm weeping as we speak.

imo, the SvD alias hasn't been trance since dark roast and pumpkin. like i said before, this is his test alias for cross-genre tracks. its definitely not for the trance crowd, unlike the purple haze alias.
