I'm losing it... I'm doing NYE in Berlin

I decided to skip NYC parties for a couple of months, save my cash, and go to Berlin for New Year's.

The line ups at Tresor, Watergate, Week End, and Berghain are pretty insane. And I've been corresponding with some Berliners who tell me I'm a stupid, fucking c*nt, who has no sense and they are going to take to me to the underground parties instead. They said I'll start partying at 4 am on Sunday and probably won't get done dancing till sunrise on Monday.

I have no idea where I'm going, what I'm doing, or whether I'm coming back. It sounds like pure heaven.

If anybody has some advice about Berlin, let me know. I have no idea what I'm doing, but frankly I'm not worried. It'll be great regardless. I'll post up any updates before my trip on the thread. And if I survive, I'll post up pictures and stories afterward.

Ive been in Berlin a couple times, never knew they had a strong scene though,....ohhhhh wait youre talking about the Berlin in Germany, not the one in New Jersey.

Most of the clubs do it right and don't allow pictures.

Well, the tone was very much like you hear on NYTA. He sounded like he was insulting me, but he only wants me not to follow the party lemmings and hit a more underground scene.

Which I am sure is fun but those party lemmings do actually know a thing or 2 about a good time.

Watergate and Berghain are like nothing you will experience in the States and are a whole lot of fun.

He just sounds elitist.

Correct, so take your pictures mentally because it may be the only memory you have!

I would still go to the clubs you mentioned as well as the underground events. May as well go all out, you only live once. Some clubs have very strict door policies and actually don't really like tourists (mainly because of what goes on inside) just don't speak and try to look German till you get inside ROFL. If you are with some Germans you should be ok.

Thanks, Z, for the tips. I appreciate the help. I am new to foreign travel. I've been lurking on Germany TA, but it's not as active as NYTA.

My Berlin friend listed a bunch of places I've never heard of that he said will have parties with lineups TBD like ballhaus ost, VEB, ritterbutzke, morlox, wilde renate, and a bunch of others. I guess, I'll bounce around and see where I end up. Here are the big name parties that I'm thinking of going to atm:

Dec. 30th - Richie Hawtin/Steve Bug @ Week End OR Tanzmann @ Watergate OR Shit Robot @ Tresor. Not sure which I'd rather go to. No online pre-sales for Hawtin. Too bad.

Dec. 31st - I got a cheap ticket for a party at Munze. Headlining is Justin Martin from Dirtybird and Stimming is doing a live set.

Dec. 1 - Berghain, of course. Planning on going around 11 am or noon. I doubt I'll get in, but I'm going to try. The line up is sick.

Dec. 2 - Ellen Allien & Seth Troxler @ Week End. Nice closer for the NYE madness.

I'll be lucky if I get in or are alive for a fraction of the music I want to see. Then it's on to Amsterdam to relax for a few days.

My host for NYE is a crazy man. He has no idea where we are going yet, but it's going to be an eventful night. He's insisting that I wear a "slutty costume" because that's what everyone does. He's sewing a costume for himself.

Gah, I may be slutty, but I hate trying to look the part. If anybody has ideas for costumes, let me know. I have no idea where to start. I'm Googling "silvester party" images, but coming up with no ideas.

As for the party schedule, I'm probably going to do a mix of big techno clubs like Tresor, Watergate, and Weekend, with smaller parties on NYE. It makes a lot of sense to avoid the big clubs on the holiday because cover is outrageous. I am going to try to hit the Berghain, but I dunno.
