Fav New Breakout Artist of 2010

There's debate on the Anjunabeats forum between Soundprank and Arty, although both cover diff genres I guess. Although both guys have been producing before 2010 this year has def been big for them both on the scene. Soundprank would def be my #1 cause the guy's amazing..just that short clip of his new song on Jaytech's TATW 350 set shows that he really can do no wrong.

In terms of trance I'd have to say that Arty is fkg amazing also. His remode of Twilight Tonight is one of my top trance trax of 2010..played that like crazy last summer Michael Woods has also been making some very danceable stormers like his remix of Dragonette's Hello and Underworld's Always Loved A Film in addition to his own productions..

Euphoria why don't you just merge all the end of year lists into Vza's thread?

Posted by The Vza on Dec-20-2010 01:40:

I'd say it has to be Dash Berlin, Avicii, Afrojack (or this guy Headhunterz?). They all cracked the top 100 for the first time, were in the top 40 and have been blowing up like whoa.

although I do agree that Arty has been getting some SERIOUS love, especially from cosmic gate

yeah i gotta agree with you on arty. i think he's gonna continue to get bigger over the coming year.

Yeah, definitely Arty and avicii. Porter Robinson did it big too this year.

For sure Arty seemed to blow up this year.

Another guy who really came out swinging this year, with an almost entirely new sound than what he used to do, is Michael Woods.

Andrew Bayer as well, has been around for awhile, but under his own name, did some massive tracks this year.

Gotta give props to eco too...astot 450, and 500, if only his artist album had been done

Phynn had a massive 2010 imo. He had been around for a while, but this felt like a breakout year for him.

DNS Project also had a great year. Really enjoying his sound.

No one really stands out to me anymore.

For the most part this is my personal experience with "breakthrough artists"

1. Artist comes out and is amazing!
2. Makes more quality productions.
3. Gets his name out there, people start recognizing him.
4. Gets signed to a label with an album deal.
5. All tracks from this point on are unimpressive.
6. Move onto the next artist.
7. Rinse and repeat

...and yea I know some of the reasons behind why this happens, but I still don't like it

Luigi Lusini

haha Thanks!.. We'll talk this time next year, and see how things end up. I've been fairly quiet past year but the gears are really rolling hard though and 2012 might be a big one. I won't jinx it though haha..

His stuff is unique..has that big Markus Schulz type bass and nice rhythms..more on the prog trance/house side though. I'd recommend the track Ciel from his Endgame album and his remixes of Spooky, Escadia-Voz Del Mar and SQL-Leisure Battery for a few good listens..well those are some of my favs anyway, lol.

I have a couple for this. And when I thought about who MY breakthru artists are this year, honestly none of them are trance DJs/producers.

I'd say Avicii is this first guy that I heard and thought WOW. He's only 21 and every track he puts out is a hit. I have a lot of respect for him and I think I have every single one of his tracks in my CD wallet.

But MY favorite breakthrough artists are both dubstep groups. Nero and Magnetic Man (Skream, Benga, and Artwork). They both did two AMAZING essential mixes and the week after Nero did their EM (which included all diff shit from Flux Pavillion to Muse to The Who etc) I got to see them at Webster Hall and that was some ILLLL shit. On top of that I got my hands on the debut Magnetic Man album that was released on Sony which I'm fairly certain is my album of the year. Go ahead Burak, shit on dubstep all you want but if you can't see how fast dubstep is growing then you're in complete denial.

Gary Beck absolutely crushed every production he put out this year. He's my choice for sure.
